My point was, what they asked me to do is nearly impossible. What do they expect me to do? Call everybody right after to text them to see if they received it? I send and receive hundreds of texts every day...

So, what is your priority? Sending and receiving "hundreds" of texts daily, and enjoying the reliability the rest of us have? Or maintaining the "cool" status of having a JB'ed phone?

It should be obvious by now that something is broken, and in all probability, you broke it.

What do you think you should do now?

Att how may we help you.

I have a jailbroken phone with modified carrier settings I downloaded off the internet and now my text msg'ing and MMS don't work right.

Ummm, you did what?

Weren't you listening? I hacked my iPhone with some software and my text msg'ing isn't working right and MMS is kinda screwy at the moment. Also I swapped sim cards to an old phone for about 5 mins and it's messed up there. I know the system probably didn't pick up the phones changed and thought I was still on an iPhone data plan, but it still should have worked, you guys need to fix this.

What would you like us to do with your hacked iPhone again?

Fix it.

Tell ya what sir/madam, take the phone back to the att store, hand it to the receptionist, turn around and face any wall there, run really hard head first into the wall, then ask us to fix it again.

The original poster is prob some 16 yo kid whining because he didnt get his way

So I did what you guys said...

This morning I restored my phone and set it up as a new phone... Clean slate.

I still had the same problem. So I go to AT&T and they replace my SIM card. I go home, and test it out to make sure it was working fine. It was working, but it turns out they gave me my father's number. Meanwhile, my dad is in the city wondering why he doesn't have service and didn't have any service all day.

So I go back to AT&T, and the same guy helps me out. He apologizes for his mistake and gives me my number back.

NOW, it's still not working. In fact, now people aren't even receiving my calls periodically.

So unless me modifying my phone's software cause irreparable damage to AT&T's network, I highly doubt this was my fault in the first place.

Now what?

And "kkat69," was that really necessary? I was just asking for help. I knew there was a slight possibility that it was my problem, but AT&T couldn't help me at all. I needed some sort of help to get this back in order. All I did was ask, you didn't have to go all out on me.

Ok.. Like we told you to originally...

WHY IN GODS NAME WOULD YOU NOT TRY IT OUT THERE IN THE STORE?!?!?!?!?

So I go back to AT&T, and the same guy helps me out. He apologizes for his mistake and gives me my number back.
And your mistake for not trying it out in the STORE

NOW, it's still not working. In fact, now people aren't even receiving my calls periodically.
Again... Why did you leave the store without it working???

So unless me modifying my phone's software cause irreparable damage to AT&T's network, I highly doubt this was my fault in the first place.

Now what?
Ok.. so you have figured out it was an issue with AT&T... Last I checked this wasn't AT&T... AGAIN.... WHY did you leave the store without it working?!?

I wouldn't bust his chops... his posts have been rather entertaining adn the only reason anyone has visited this thread more than once after dismissing your tantrum

Okay, my bad for not testing it out in the store. And the second time I went back, they were just about to close. The guy working there tried it out with his own phone and it appeared to be working fine. It also happens periodically, so even if it did work at first, it might not have worked later. Even if I did realize he messed up the numbers, my dad still would have had no service all day.

Dude I think this fool is making it up....No one on this God's green earth is that friggen stupid...I mean...how could you forget to check...I don't care if they are closing or not...you know dam well you should always check to see if you're getting a working product....again....this posts really make me rethinking about the comment...there are stupid people in this world.....

I don't know about that. The OP started off this thread as if AT&T were the idiots and not helpful. Logic would dictate that the OP would do whatever they could at the store to rectify the situation given the new parameters. But since when does logic play a role with the OP?

Thanks, buddy! Tell me how I was supposed to test it if the problem is intermittent. The guy at AT&T tested it with his phone, and it worked.

Again, the problem is intermittent. There was pretty much no sure way to test it on the spot in the store. And I think with AT&T messing up my father's service for a day, AND basically asking me to call everybody after I text them (meaning hundreds of times a day), I can safely assume that their associates aren't the brightest people around.

To be fair - you admitted yourself the first time around you failed to test before you left. Can WE safely assume your not the brightest person? Or would that be unfair to characterize you based on one experience. Much like you're characterizing all of AT&T associates based on your limited experience.

The associate YOU dealt with, perhaps wasn't able to solve your problem. That doesn't make that associate not bright nor does it make all AT&T associates not bright.

Okay, I'm sorry. I should have been smarter and tested it thoroughly before leaving the store. People my age tend to make more mistakes than others. :p
Also, sorry for slightly overreacting about the whole situation, I just can't stand being called stupid and I was only looking for help, not insults and criticism.
