If you were hoping for the more personalized version of Siri to launch soon, Apple today said that you will have to keep waiting.

During the WWDC 2025 keynote today, Apple's software engineering chief Craig Federighi said that the company will share more details about the personalized Siri features in the coming year, signaling that they are still not ready.

"As we've shared, we're continuing our work to deliver the features that make Siri even more personal," said Federighi. "This work needed more time to reach our high quality bar, and we look forward to sharing more about it in the coming year."

Federighi's commentary indicates that the personalized Siri features will not be available for testing in the first iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 developer betas.

Apple first previewed the personalized Siri features during its WWDC 2024 keynote last June. The enhancements were initially expected to launch with iOS 18.4 a few months ago, but in March, Apple said they were delayed.

Whenever they launch, the Siri upgrades will include understanding of a user's personal context, on-screen awareness, and deeper per-app controls. For example, during its WWDC 2024 keynote, Apple showed an iPhone user asking Siri about their mother's flight and lunch reservation plans based on info from the Mail and Messages apps.

The promised Siri upgrades will require an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence.

I’m really curious what the cause of the delay is.

Is it that they just don’t work?

Or is it more like a worry about a security issue with giving an LLM access to personal data that it could leak.

The tasks they talk about don’t seem that hard and I’m convinced even GPT3.5 could do them quite well.

how are we liking or not liking these new icons so far?

seems like a fresher iOS 7 but I was hoping for something more radical than just glossed up.

The UI elements seem pretty cool though, 'glass' or whatever it is. Reminds me of Tiger 'Aqua' overhaul to macOS.

Captain obvious says "Duh!"

"LIQUID" glass "LIQUID"!!! They are basically shouting it every minute.

They are -really- trying to sell that part of it.
Confirmed to me that they have a product in the pipeline with it.

I think the delay is that they showed something that doesn’t even exist, which is very unlike them and they need to be held accountable.

Not surprised. Hopefully when it launches finally it will work well and not have further problems.

This goes waaaaay deeper than the headline.

it is a serious problem for future Apple sales ... e,g, marketing Apple Intelligence for iPhone 17 just won't convince customers any more.
it is already a bit of a joke - in an Apple store today where the Apple Intelligence marketing is everywhere... and yet so lacking for many as a practical experience.

Do you mean iOS 26 and iPadOS 26? Funny the macOS 26 was correct but not the others. Sounds like this may have been partially written in advance. It's going to take all of us a little time to get used to the new numbering.

This is the first time I may join the chorus that Tim Cook might not be the right person to lead Apple forward.

No need to “upgrade” iPhone this year then. Let’s wait for AI and then we can decide.
