We know that WWDC is for developers and would preview Leopard. But what new stuff did we really get from last summer's preview. Very little at all. Talk about games. And of course, no product lauches whatsoever. That was a waste of my time.

Leopard looks great, however I was hoping for more with the whole "Top Secret features" thing from last year. ;) In this respect I was a little disappointed.

As for no new products, the Apple Store is still down, so perhaps Apple will surprise us and have something for us when it comes back up! :p ;) :D

The only products ever announced at WWDC are workstation/server level machines (PM G5, XServe, and Mac Pro). Since the Mac Pro was recently bumped to octo status, that leaves nothing to announce.

It's a developer conference. What were you really expecting?

The apple store is up. It got a makeover.

its a developer conference. i think it was a smashing keynote from that perspective. and leopard looks better than ever, shame nothing was mentioned about ZFS though. but good news all around if you ask me. the Mac platform is growing, fast and in a good way too. :)

Forget about the WWDC, Apple needs to get to work on the annual WWFC (World Wide Fanboy Conference), where they release all the shiny new stuff to buy.

Yeah, but that speed bump was just a new processor upgrade option, which doesn't qualify as an update in my books - a true update would have been a new mobo, better (and much needed!) graphics options, perhaps more RAM, more HDD capacity, etc. - in other words, an actual refresh to the machine itself.

All that being said, I think the current Mac Pro is a great offering. My point is that it wouldn't have been out of the realm of possibility to see a Mac Pro update announced as well.

So what was that comment from Steve about being "invested in desktops" supposed to mean?

I'm hoping we find out soon. Just because desktops weren't featured in the keynote does not mean that they have not been updated at all and are not set for release to the public in the very near future... Hell, we could even see an iMac or Mac Pro update in the next week or two. Stay positive.

Christ, there's always one (or more)... people have simply got to stop getting all excited about rumours based on nothing of substance, basing their buying plans on nothing but vapour.

Expect nothing and you'll get the world. Expect everything and you'll get s**t.

I expected nothing. But still hoped for updated Mac Pros or aluminum iMacs anyway. At the least I would have liked to see res. ind. on Leopard and other new features not featured last year.

I wasn't happy that Steve double-dipped. We were supposed to get the un-announced secret features, but instead there were several that he already demoed last year.

Not surprising at all.

Apple has their hands full getting both the company, and more importantly, the retail stores ready for iPhone.

No time to throw a brand new piece of hardware (iMac, sub notebook, etc.) into the mix that might steal media thunder from the phone. Apple wants all eyes on the phone for now.

Disappointing? Kinda.

Surprising? No.

Well said. I don't understand people who are angry with a company when their unrealistic expectations aren't met...

The iPhone comes out the 29th. They threw a new update out last week with the MBP's...they could've gotten away with something this week. The iPhone is well enough known, and is still far enough away.
