Browsing now from Safari for XP. My 27" viewsonic already has font issues, but MR looks text (forums headings and users) looks thick compared to IE. Not nice on the eyes.

Agreed. I read about 2 pages of forums in Safari and had to switch back to FF from getting a headache. Why is everything tiny and bold?

A geographical oddity
The iPhone comes out the 29th. They threw a new update out last week with the MBP's...they could've gotten away with something this week. The iPhone is well enough known, and is still far enough away.

18 days is far away? I think the mindset behind just about every complaint I've seen about every keynote has now been explained.

First off I am not trying to moan or whine and if it comes off that way I am sorry. I didn't have as much of an emotional/financial tie to WWDC because Apple had already the MBP's.
Anyway
It seems strange to me that at a 'Developers' conference that they would mention ZFS (if it is indeed part of leopard), for some reason, I would think developers would be very interested in that part and how it affects their apps.

Also, assuming it is infact true, I also thought that resolution independance would be another item of interest to a developer. I am no developer but I would think that vector based graphics would effect them.

Finally, and this is more a statement of confusion than anything else. When I first got my iMac and tried out Safari I immediately went to download Firefox. I currently use Camino. Apple was able to come up with some stats saying that IE<FF<Safari. Is this only on Windows, but then Jobs said that Safari is the faster browser on the Mac.....when in my experience it goes Saf<FF<(by a hair)Camino. I am currently typing this on the Safari 3 Beta and I see no marked boost in speed either. Keep am mind that that I am a Mac fanboy and usually believe most of what apple says, but this time......meh....

It also seems a bit odd that the home page of Apple.com now features Leopard.Conquer Time and Spaces, when Leopard is not out now and won't be for some time. It makes me think that it won't be THE feature item for very long since the general public may be confused by this move/bit of advertising. It would make sense to see a new product either Tuesday or Wednesday, pushing the Leopard teaser to one of the 4 small blocks, possibly moving YouTube or the iPhone ads off the front page, or simply rearranging by bringing the MBPs back to front and center. Though I hope that there are new iMacs this week or next, otherwise there won't be anything most likely until a good 2-4 weeks after the iPhone launch.

Gradually Exiting Computer Business? "No. If you come to WWDC we're rolling out our new version of OSX -- massive investments in desktops. You'll love it." - Engadget

That was the quote that lead me to think there would be an update to the desktop line.

Was all the "TOP SECRET" leopard features exposed during today's keynote? No more ... that's it?

The "Top Secret" features appear to have been in relation to the dock/desktop/stacks and the new Finder... not exactly what I'd call Top Secret!

Top Secret for me would have been a completely new UI (along with updated hardware to take advantage of it) incorporating the iPhone's multi-touch technology - except for the entire computer and OS - it's all touch screen, a la Minority Report and Jeff Han's demos.

But, if that were to be the case, that would probably warrant the OS being upgraded to OS XI, not just a dot upgrade.. ;)
