With WWDC drawing closer, how come there have been no WWDC rumors at all? not even anything crazy as last years Powerbook G5 2.2 Ghz rumor. Is apple planning somehting so huge no one knows anything about it

frankly as far as WWDC goes i don't think they can spend an hour and a half on tiger, hell they shouldn't talk anything other than its adoption, we've seen three keynotes on tiger already, we got it, we know the new stuff, there's no need unless they show developer examples or something, we know what apple can do.
as with the recent powermac update, only 200mhz? seems kind of fishy and makes me wonder if something better will be announced, a more high end version of the powermac that will ship in the fall or later summer.

just my two cents.

What's the history of WWDC and updates? Are there normally updates at these events or can it be a hit and miss?

while iPod with bluetooth seems good lets remember bluetooth one goes at 1.5mbps and bluetooth 2 at only 2mbps syncing an iPod with that sounds nice but would be so slow, a good use though would be put bluetooth in both the iPod and Airport express and use the iPod's bluetooth to transmit songs over to it and control it.

I can think of powerbook and powermacs upgrades/total revisions off the top of my head. This isn't a consumer conference so all their "top of the line"/"prosumer" stuff gets upgraded at WWDC.

though powerbooks just had an "update" if it can be called that, same with powermacs, i really hope they have some tricks up their sleeves otherwise steave is gonna be up there for an hour with nothing to do except maybe reenact iPod ads.

Kinda makes me wonder if 1) Apple's threats have gotten to the rumor sites; and/or 2) Apple has gotten better at sealing their internal leaks. I'd guess a pb updated followed by ibook updated within 1-2 weeks afterwards. This way the whole line is updated and tiger "compatible", and everything is done in its right place.

I agree. It's not like Powerbooks were only updated yesterday. Plus that would stop the arguments of iBook being too close to the Powerbook.

Dual core 4GHz G5 Powerbooks that come from the factory stock with 8 gigs of RAM and dual layer 100GB blu-ray drives, all of it available on the 12" PB too.

There, someone had to say it

The law suit that Apple brought against Think Secret has put a damper on the release of any leaks. Apple didn't like that Think Secret released details of the Mac mini prior to MWSF last January. I'm also hoping that Steve will announce some new items.

I'm starting to think it's not about trade secrets but more about stealing Job's thunder. That would piss me off. Even with leaked details coming a week ahead of the official announcement, that doesn't give competitors much time to develop a competing product.

I doubt we will see any updates to the mainstream consumer market (e.g. iPods, iLife, etc.). I'd expect, if anything, updates (probably marginal at best) to the Powermac, or perhaps announcements about new software or a sort of forecast into what's ahead. But, it's coming up soon enough, and we shall see what Apple has up their sleeve.

For what its worth, Amazon has a rebate incentive on all Apple computers that ends on June 7th.

That's good to know, thanks. For someone desperately awaiting a ibook revision i'll take that as an indicator of new things to come.
