The only thing I would see a reason to wait for and that is Face ID might be gen 2 and be a lot better then it currently is.

Yeah I dig OLED over LCD. I purchased an LG OLED 65" TV last year and absolutely love the thing, other than it's price... LOL

Not sure yet whether I prefer the OLED X screen over LCD, but I purchased an LG OLED 55" TV last year and the screen is amazing. Nothing else I've seen compares.

I need to upgrade my phone. I have the 6+ & 5s (2 sims). I'm torn between the X and 8+
Is it bad decision to grab the 8+ in 2018 considering that it is an old design? I can always wait for the new ones, but for some reason, I don't know if I'll be comfortable without the button...
Both are good phones. Pick one up at the Apple Store. If after using it for 12 days you are not happy, give the other model a go.

Chances are they’ll be selling 8’s for 2 years. I opt preferably for Apple Special Refurbished Store. Just as 6S+ is still an option now.

I'm very happy with my X. I came from a 6s Plus. It was just tired of the size of it and how easily the home screen would flip to landscape (yes I know you could lock it). I do wish the X was slightly wider, but overall I am happy. As stated earlier, you have 14 days.

I think the X is worth it but only if you're going to use it a couple of years or more. It is insanely expensive but worth it to me. All the little things add up. We may as well all be using Moto Cs if we didn't care about our phones (and they would still work).

Go with the X. The new design will make it feel like a completely different device than the 8 Plus.

That iPhone 8 might be an older model design, but it’s still shares many internals of the iPhone X. But you have to ask yourself, what interests you more, Face ID or touch ID? What do you like about the iPhone X?

But my suggestion is to get more hands-on with iPhone X and see if it something that you truly would like. There is a learning curve with gesture controls and Face ID, but like anything with technology, you will adjust overtime.

I have a 6S. I got an 8+ and within four hours I knew I hated it. The 6S is my favorite phone and the 8+ for me was not usable. Too big. I returned it and will get the X soon. That’s just me and the way I use my phone. If the 6S wasn’t so crippled I’d keep using it.

Please I want new IPhone. I would ask to you about Iphone 8 Plus and IPhone X. Is bigger display on 8 Plus or X ? What about display quality?

A. The X seems tiny
B. Sticker shock
C. I've been using AMOLD on Samsung for 2 yrs
D. I try to wait on new design for 6 months
E. iPhone X 2.0 or X Plus next year at this time
F. 8+ as I like convenience, reliability, and may be last model
G. I'll upgrade in 2019, when 12.3 is also matured along with larger X iPhone

I would say the iPhone 6s had the best display, it wasn’t yellow, it had a white/blue-ish stark tone to it. And then the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 started the transition with a much more toned down yellow like display.

I don’t think so the lottery prolly just didn’t treat ya well. 7/8 can look great. And should look great with p3 but we know that isn’t always the case

8 Plus is an amazing phone...if for the battery life itself! Only issue is the speaker cracking, but Apple patched that problem in 11.3 beta 4...hopefully there will be further improvements with that issue with the official 11.3 update.

Honestly I would buy an X and try it out. You'll have 14 days to use it and all you'll lose is around $35 for a restocking fee if there is one. Yeah you can try it in a store but to get used to the Ui specially with those gestures you'll need to see if you can get used to it.

This is good advice. It’s the approach I took with the first Plus-sized phones ... after all, how would I ever know if I could get used to the larger size unless I actually tried it? I’m really glad I did, as the Plus was my choice for the 6, 6S, and 7.

Give it a go, swap it within 14 days if you just can’t hang.

And, for what it’s worth, I absolutely love my X (got it launch day). It didn’t take long at all for me to get used to no home button on my X. :)

I like the X but I can’t help but feel like the 8Plus is a more refined and complete package. I miss the battery life of the 8Plus and the full screen When viewing media. I don’t care about selfie portraits or animojis.

Get the one you think you'll like and try it out for 14 days. If you don't dig it, exchange it.. I originally purchased 8 at full price and after 14 days exchanged it for the X. I took the 8 refund ($700 plus tax) and put it down on the X, which I've since paid off..

I am very happy with my choice to go to the X. It's a large screen is the same size form factor as the 8. faceID world for me at about the same rate as touchID but it is a tad bit slower and the silly swipe up after it recognizes you is sill so I hope Apple removes that with firmware update.

The notch does not bother most actual and real owners. Much of the hate it gets is from non owners, people why have seen photos of it and think it will bother them, or people who played with one in a store for a few minutes.

I have X reservations before getting it and they were faceID and gestures. After using the X for a while now my concerns were unfounded. feceID is awesome and gestures are intuitive. After using the X, I don't think I could ever go back to a home button having iPhone.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Just got 8+ and after using Samsung S8/Note8, it feels archaic with that Touch ID button and space at top. Solid, reliable, touch never fails to unlock or authenticate but I do look forward to see the 2018 model.

X all the way.

I had the 8 Plus and was content on keeping it till the new X comes out later this year but after using it for an hour or two from a friend I decided to make the jump to the X and I have ZERO regrets.
  • Better form factor
  • Beautiful OLED display
  • FaceID is legit, I was skeptical but it just works
  • OIS and F2.4 on the telephoto lens
  • Battery is surprisingly good but not as good as the 8 Plus of course
Even when the new X comes out I will be buying the same size, I think this is the perfect size for a phone.

I would say if someone was completely unsure about the iPhone X, the iPhone 8 is a safe bet. It’s the fourth generation iPhone with touch ID, same physical form factor, True Tone display, wireless charging and it’s the last iPhone we will likely see in that form factor ever again.
