Sun has a java forum that includes a "New to Java" subforum.

For pure cross platform java development, you might want to look at Netbeans or Eclipse instead of Xcode. Xcode is a good IDE, but lacks a lot of Java specific features, cross platform GUI editor for instance, that Netbeans and Eclipse has.

Sounds like you are taking on a lot - Xcode and Java plus your med studies, but try starting at http://www.javaworld.com - they have a forum, and there's also the Sun site where it all started, and I'm sure you'll find quite a bit at the Apple site http://developer.apple.com and sign up for a free online account.

Thank you and gekko as well.
Yes, you might be right: I'm taking probably too much( not really med studies, but drug R&D, programming as you already know, fitness instructor degree as well and studying equity markets on my own).
You're right it's becoming way too much...

Very noble goals - and very worthwhile - the best of luck to you on them.

Let us know once in a while how you are doing! My fiance is an RN of many years. She attended the Edinburgh School of Medicine in Scotland, and anybody who goes into any part of a medical profession is held in high esteem by me!!!
