Hi guys - need advice please. I have a mac pro 1.1 with a xfx hd6870 2gb VRAM card. Trouble is that the card only shows 1gb in the system profiler. The serial number confirms it is a 2gb card. I have applied the groths ati update and also added the Kext upgrade. Any suggestions?
Update - Found the answer elsewhere. The card is using the full 2gb - it is just that the ati update was written from a 1gb perspective. It records 1gb in the system profiler as default. Apparently before applying the update the system profiler would have read 2gb VRAM! I update the ati efi before I installed the card. To test this does use 2gb I loaded x-plane 10 and rendered the settings up to extreme and hey presto it works - recording used VRAM as well over 1.5 gb. Hope this is useful to any other Mac Pro 1.1 users.
NB - The card is completely silent and gives significant performance increase over my previous hd 5770(mac) card.
