Really. My Xs Max definitely couldn’t make it through a day without a charge or two. The extra couple hours on the Pro is life changing. I’m so used to keeping my phone topped off in the car but it doesn’t matter anymore.

It’s down to the user. My Xs max never really gets below 40-50% in a working day. Tbf, in work, my phone is in my pocket and only used on break times and then again on commute. By bedtime I frequently plug it in with over half its full charge capacity (50+) still available. Battery has never been an issue for my Xs max.

I honestly think it madness for anyone who upgraded from XSM to 11 Pro given that we know that the big upgrade is due 2020 when there’s likely to be a full hardware redesign. If we’re saying goodbye to the notch and embracing an all display iPhone with iPhone 12 pro then it 100% made sense for me to bypass the 11pro, stick with my max and wait another 10 short months for the major upgrade. I know I’ve did the right thing. Aside the camera & battery xsm to 11 pro looks incremental considering what’s expected for iP12

Well. It’s not trivial for me but assume you’re speaking for yourself. In which case, good for you. Although I do suspect your showing off some or flat out bull sh*****

Will be years before 5g is useful.

this!

People are way too much expecting from the (rumored) 5G iPhone 2020.
For Apple its just another way to justify to increase the price for these new iPhones with another $100/€100

Will take at least another 2 to 3 years before it get's good coverage.

I am absolutely loving my XS Max but I think the Battery Life and Wide Angle camera are very good reasons to go to the 11 Pro Max.

OT (apologies), but I notice the Huawei in your sig - do you swap back and forth between that and the XS Max?

5G will be nowhere near relevant for early adoption. Lets take 5G as a ‘selling point’ for example, do you truly believe Consumers have any idea what 5G is. They don’t. Apple will focus on proprietary hardware/software features as selling points. The tangible benefits for 5G won’t be an initial selling point for while until it’s matured somewhat, pending the users location.

Deployment is going to be a big issue. I think it will be several years before consumers outside the core of major urban centers or other selected areas see any improvements from 5G. I live in the Boston area and there are many areas where I still can't get a usable LTE signal. 3G and 1X still pop up on my phones quite often, which in real life supports only texting. Email and voice on 3G either don't work or are unusably bad.

I have had every iPhone since the 3G. Upgraded every single year without fail.

this is the first time I am keeping my previous gen and will be keeping my XS Max. I just can’t justify it with so little to upgrade to. Getting bored if the same design since 2014. Can’t wait for a design refresh next year, hopefully.

What? How is the design from the X or Xs (Max) from 2014? I agree it's no longer worth it to upgrade every year, but same design?

Design changes over the years:

2007: Original iPhone
2010: iPhone 4
2012: iPhone 5
2014: iPhone 6
2017: iPhone X

apart from the camera hump, materials and screen, what is different? It still feels the same in the hand and has done for the past 5 years.

It’s used the same shape since 2014.

I’m hoping for a 3GS - 4 design change in 2020.

From BigMcGuire in post #6:

“The Apple Upgrade Plan is a nice 0% interest loan for those of us that like to upgrade yearly and not deal with the potential hazards of re-selling online.“

This is the main reason I’ve gone with the Apple Upgrade Plan. Yes, I can get more for my old phone on eBay or other sites, but you also run the risk of getting nothing. It happens all to often, you send them your phone, and they claim they received nothing or worse that they received a brick. I may get a bit less for my phone from Apple, but to me, that’s the price of security.

As far as the difference between my iPhone XS Max and my iPhone 11 Pro Max I’m satisfied with the upgraded features. I’m having a ball with the new camera modes especially Night Mode, and Deep Fusion. The all day battery life is very handy as it well, as is the upgraded screen.

However, to each their own, ymmv.

I’m not a big camera guy but I upgraded from the Xs Max to the 11 Pro Max. I love it and don’t regret it. I even have started taking pictures more because they come out so beautiful. The amazing battery life was something I’ve been waiting for since my first iPhone.

Yearly upgrades are just getting way too expensive. There's not enough there to justify the extra cost. Having upgraded from the XS Max, I will now stick with my iPhone 11 Pro Max for at least 2 years before I upgrade again.

Well that's what I said when I got the XS Max too...….lets see...…. lol

I went from XS Max to Pro Max...I haven't had to charge my phone while at work since I got it. I used to have to charge my XS Max by 2-3pm and now I can make it through an entire work day and still have plenty of battery left. It wasn't a huge issue since I have a charger at my desk, but it's nice to not have to plug it in.

As far as camera, I'm like the guy above...I was never a big picture taker but I find myself taking more pics because they look so damn good. I'll be an Instagram Model in no time lol jk

Although they have sort of incremental upgrades annually they have what’s called a ‘supercycle’ around the 3rd year of current cycle which you are correct in predicting is due September 2020 if past scheduling is to be gone by.

Seriously people who needs to recharge their XS Max during the day just use their phones way too much. How can someone use their phone for more than 6-7 on screen hour a day? I think it happens once when my Max was below 20% in a day and when I go to bed it’s usually over 50 or even 60%.

Mine gets charged once a day at bedtime. I’m likely what would be considered a light/average user (no gaming etc) and I usually plug it in at night with around half charge still remaining

thinking of upgrading? Use the cash as toilet paper for better use.
It shames me to say it, but this is the rate of ‘innovation’ we’ve been seeing at Apple. It’s an absolute embarrassment that I shelled out another $1500 for the 11 Pro Max after 12 months of shelling out the same for the XS Max.
I managed to sell my XS MAX on eBay for $900, so I rationalized the splurge. But it is far from a needed upgrade.
Let’s say it as it is: The 11 has an extra camera. That’s it. The very fact that you need to see side-by-side photos to notice the enhanced camera quality shows you that you don’t %#*ing need it. But me being the schmuck I am had to buy it anyways.
enjoy debt slavery.
