Look at the X when it came out. They didn't sell out either.

Pretty sure that was US only. Europe at least sold out in minutes. My order went in 7 minutes after orders opened and I had to wait a month. The US meanwhile you could walk into a store and get one - definitely needed to put more stock worldwide if there was this much of a difference IMO. Hopefully they’ll change it a bit this year but I doubt it.

I think Apple is even more ready this time around.

I would expect anyone up at 2AM will be able to get their devices on launch day.
Yeah we say that every year and you never know, dates slipped back so quick on the X last year and I had to go in store and grab one that way. Just have to wait and see.

This is definitely different than then X. The X was limited edition, really. It wasn't meant to be the lead selling phone and we knew Apple had production problems.

I do this every year (except the last one, honestly) and the main production model is usually not too difficult to get if you go through Apple-owned store interfaces. If you go through a carrier you're hosed.

O yeah I been doing this every year and I usually always have luck with preorder night. My App Store for some reason didnt come up on my iPhone last year and did on my iPad so dates slipped on me. Ill have me iPhone and iMac ready in the am.

I was gonna wake up and pre-order at 3AM but I think this year I'll wait until next week to purposely push my delivery out a bit. I'd like to get the new phone just before iUP charges me for next month. I'm willing to gamble as I don't think delivery dates for the XS are going to slip too far. I'll keep a close eye on it, of course.

On the upgrade plans I think you're only talking about $5-$10 more per month so I think price will be a consideration only if people want the 512GB Max which is crazy priced :)

I was just looking to see if I could get by with the 64GB... maybe not

Is this because you don't use iCloud for backing up images/movies? I have a 128GB iPhone 7 and I plan on upgrading to the XS Max but with 64gbs. I am only using like 27GB of storage but I use iCloud (I pay $2/mo or w/e for the 200gb) which I will probably pay for regardless of what phone I get.

I think Apple will have adequate stock like they did last year for the iPhone X and Max. Every year, it seems they somewhat are achieving more stock with their suppliers, but I think the real unknown will be the XR, in October, but it should be interesting to see how pre-orders bode.

They did have adequate stock, they didn't sell as many as expected for pre-orders.

X was sold out within 15mins depending on model variant.

“In the 15 minutes between me completing my order and the confirmation email dropping in my Inbox, iPhone X stock went from being delivered next week to an expected ship date of 5-6 weeks.”

I walked into a AT&T store and bought one opening day. No lines. No one had issues getting them when the X came out.

Probably 100GB of mine is photos in Lightroom, videos and podcast (which I should get in there and delete a few) but think I would still be bumping up agains 64GB pretty quickly. It pretty frustrating that they don't just go with 128GB as the lower tier. The storage and pricing model is just plain wrong.
