I agree. The iPhone 8 started at $699, the iPhone 8 Plus started at $799. With the iPhone Xr, we are getting a starting price of $750 (right in between) with the same quality and larger screen, Face ID technology, and the same processor as a XS. They priced the Xr just right in my opinion.
I'm getting the XS Max in 256G. Is the phone $450 better than the XR at 128G? I seriously doubt it. The XR seems like it is the better value for money. The XS Max will let me store some more media and take better pictures - that's it.
I mostly agree, but just to be clear, out of those three, the 8 Plus does have a better screen than both the 8 and the XR. Whether that matters to you or not is a different question though since the 8 is already pretty decent.
(Yesterday I went to the Apple Store and compared the X, 7 Plus, 7, and SE all side by side, so the quality differences are fresh in my mind.)
Sorry to disappoint you, but part of your site problem is the low resolution of the iPhones you’re buying. The iPhone 6, 6S, 7 and 8 all have very low screen resolutions and low DPI making things more difficult to read compared to the Plus, Max and X iPhones.
The XR doesn’t improve the resolution very much at all. It just gives you more screen to see the same blurry information.
What you want to do is go into Settings > General > Accessibility and increase the size of text, icons and images. You may find you don’t need the new phone to suit your needs. And it will help even if you do decide to get the new phone.

I've pointed this out before, but I think it bears repeating here. The X/XS doesn't have Zoomed Display mode at all. Thus, IMO for many if not most in this scenario, the most viable options are everything EXCEPT the X/XS. This includes the 8, XR, 8 Plus, and XS Max.
With Zoomed Display mode, the 8 and XR will have bigger fonts than the X/XS, albeit at 326 ppi. The 8 Plus and XS Max will have bigger fonts too, but at higher ppi. The 8 Plus is 401 ppi, and the XS Max is probably somewhere in between, probably relatively close to the 8 Plus (since it doesn't really have 458 ppi).
I am using an X. I have the Zoomed display option in Settings you may have been misinformed.
No you don't. You have text size adjustments and you have zooming options, but you don't have Zoomed Display mode. It's simply not there. I have already confirmed this with the X in my hands.
Go to Settings --> Display & Brightness
There is a "Display Zoom" "View" setting below the "Bold Text" switch that is completely absent on the X and apparently is absent on the XS as well. However, it's apparently there on both the XR and XS Max.
Interesting. I’ll have to peek at my old phone later. I was looking the options under General > Accessibility. Maybe it’s been moved or broken into individual options. Since I’m not sure what you’re talking about I’ll assume you’re correct and there is a missing option.
Yes there are accessibility zooming options, but they don't do the same thing.
If you turn on Zoom under accessibility, IMO for most of us it's basically unusable. It's designed more for those who for example are close to legally blind.
I have no understanding why they kept this off the X, because it's there on the 8.
The screen is slightly better on the 8+ as it’s 1080p as opposed to 720p on the 8 and XR. The also doesn’t have 3DTouch built into the screen like the other two. For me personally I’d value full 3DT over FaceID and the improved single camera but it’s down to the individual to assess what features and trade offs they are willing to go with.
The XR is a larger phone than the iPhone 8 and only a few millimetres smaller than the 8+. I’d be inclined to recommend the 8+ on that basis but again that’s just my opinion.

iPhone 8 is 750p and iPhone XR is 828p. But it's moot since that doesn't matter per se. What matters is they are both 326 ppi. The iPhone 8+ is 1080p at 401 ppi.

Lol, I myself started writing a response to you (which I since deleted) when I thought all 3 phones had 326 ppi. But it looks like the Plus does indeed have a higher and better quality screen at 401 ppi.
The XR May have a screen that looks just as good as the 8 Plus, you need to wait till you see it in person before claiming it looks worst then the 8, because theirs more to it then PPI.
According to Apples spec sheet the XR does not have zoomed screen mode. If it does then post a link to where you saw it. Because it’s on the spec list of the other phones like the 8, but not the XR, I would like to actually know this for a fact as I would use it if it had it.

I didn't say the XR screen would look worse than the 8 screen. I said they would look the same (in terms of text clarity, etc).
See posts above. It's in iOS 12 for the XR and Max, but they couldn't find any reference to it for the XS or X.
Final confirmation will have to be Friday though.
