It’s the same Apple haters…just like the whole “nothings changed…” garbage.

Yeah the design may be the same but there were changes. Not to mention we’re pretty much at peak smartphone. I’m not really sure what people expect at this point. You want a triangle shaped phone? There’s only soo much you can do with a candy bar style phone. It’s not like any other manufacturers are radically redefining their designs either.
We "the apple haters" just want the same D65 white point as the studio display, imacs, and macbooks. So we can see the same colors across displays. Aka metamerism.

It's not looking good for the iphone 16 pro timestamp at 16:54

My 16 pro does seem a bit warmer color temp wise than I was expecting and from memory of my 14 PM but only at times.

at other times looks very bright and white haha

Still, not sure what to make of it exactly just yet. But then when I compare to my 13 mini, that is even warmer.

your eyes will adapt to whatever white point and see white, theres nothing wrong with warm white point, the issue is its not D65 like the other mac screens.

My 16Pro has a warm/greenish tint which i don’t even mind. What’s worse is that it’s uneven. The top part of the screen is yellow/green compared to the bottom region. Funny enough, turning on True Tone (which i hate) helps mask it.

It also seems dimmer, although not as egregious as I’ve seen on other posts in this forum.

As it stands, the last time i had a perfect OLED from Apple remains the iPhone X. Everything since has either had a yellow, green, or red hue

My favourite screens right now are my iPad Pro (LCD) and Studio Display

At this point i don’t even have the energy to try and replace it, or play the lottery game. I’m just gonna live with it and trust my eyes to adapt.

So much for Samsung’s latest/greatest M14 display 👎

Yep. My 16PM is also Dimmer compared to my 14PM which was dimmer than my 13PM which was dimmer than my 12PM when comparing side by side. Some phenomena 🤣

I also did a psycho comparison yesterday lol from all the demo units and these were my findings (and some pics of my panel by itself which I think is pretty nice actually, I just get super OCD when taking delivery of a new phone. Takes a while before OCD ramps down and enjoyment ramps up, I think I'm at that point already though :p )

edit- ah you already saw it oops

Two 16PM next to each other and also 14PM next to 16PM. No particular order. 14PM is on SOS status my 16PM is light case. In one photo the 14PM does look brighter haha but what the Heck man, probably after the “break in period “ it’ll brighten up hahahaah

Edit. Some pics didn’t upload on here.

I agree, the X pentile was superior, everything looked clearer and sharper. And white point was much less yellow.

My local apple store every 16/16pro model were all consistent in the yellowness. I looked at every iphone on display. Previous year 15/15pros some were more yellow than others.

inferior to X displays Ive owned: 13 mini, 13 pro, 13 pro max, 14 pro, 15 plus. Only one thats acceptable was 11 lcd.

My 13 Pro was uneven, slightly greener/yellower at the top and redder/more "true white" to my eye at the bottom. It bothered me every once in a while and even though I got used to it, I was excited to replace it with a 16 Pro. I spent a lot of time in this thread back in '21 when I got that phone, and eventually decided it was healthier for me to just accept the phone and move on. I have diagnosed OCD that has been with me since my earliest memories as a child, and sometimes I struggle to figure out what's actually worth spending my time and energy on.

Well lo and behold, the 16 Pro is even worse in this regard - especially with Night Shift at around half brightness, it's bad enough that for once the store rep immediately could see what I was talking about when I took the phone back in today. I'd classify it as being significantly more distracting this time around when placed next to my old 13 Pro for comparison.

Unfortunately there aren't any exact replacements in stock locally, so I'm debating whether it's worth having one shipped or just trying to live with it... again. It's such a bummer to me that I can't unsee this sort of thing once I notice it. I really try - I forced myself not to immediately pull up a white test screen when I unboxed the phone, thinking "if I ever notice an issue it'll be past the return period and I'll *have* to live with it" but then I immediately noticed it the moment night shift was engaged because it was even worse than the 13P.

The shipped replacement would come through Verizon (I took advantage of a trade-in deal with them) and I fear it could get complicated with the bill credits on the account, might have to engage their support to ensure the replacement phone is registered correctly for the promo etc. And then on top of that, it might not even be any better than my current one...

Debating just living with it even though it's pretty egregious this year for me. :(

This thread probably isn't the right place to come for mental health support, but I could at least use some opinions on this 'sitch if anyone has them.

Whilst they were side by side transferring over, I couldn't help but notice how my 13 PM looked much warmer than the 16 PM.

So I got my IPhone 16 Pro Max todat and also the IPad Pro M4 13 in, and I feel like maybe both are a bit uneven, but not enough for me to go back and exchange them.

This is my old 14 Pro Max

And just for fun, the ipad pro M4

you wont notice the yellow after awhile. I got tired of the swapping game and settled with iphone 11 lcd, its fast and battery lasts all day on ios 18.1 beta

the vertical cameras also makes the 11 look like the 16 from the back 🤣

I bought a second 16 Pro and it def has a worse screen than the first. The first one had a perfect display. This second one when you look at it off-axis it immediately shifts into a dull green-ish hue and the top part is warmer than the bottom part when looking at it straight on. I'm not as picky as I get older but this is so noticeably worse that it's def going back once more iphones come back in stock.

I decided to let myself try one replacement - if it wasn't better, I'd keep the "imperfect" one I have and forget about it. Lo and behold, the replacement has the same issue but it is far less pronounced. There is still a greenish shift toward the top, but holding the two side by side it was obvious how much worse my first example was and I'm feeling somewhat vindicated in having gone to the trouble of doing the replacement. Going to try my best not to let it bug me anymore on the new one...
