John Hancock died this day years ago.

He did more than Steve Jobs to impact people's lives.

Nobody cares about this date either.

There is a difference between respecting somebody and making them a Saint.

This is an Apple site [...]. It wouldn't exist without Jobs.

I'm sure there is a forum for John Hancock somewhere that you can post in.

I'm sure it wouldn't exist as is, but Apple did exist during a time when Steve Jobs wasn't being employed by them. I know, it's a shocker. It really did happen, though.

And now it still exists, even though he passed away.

He was a wise man, did a lot of work, but don't act like he needs to be put up for Sainthood. The entire premise of this thread was what? To chastise people for not wailing and gnashing their teeth? Yes, the world does move on even after a genius dies.

I understand most of you are SO consumed with trying to get the iPhone 5..

You must have forgotten..

Why dont you put aside your inconsiderate thoughts and actually put some mind into the fact that one year ago we lost a brilliant mind..

R.I.P. Steve Jobs

Thanks so much for the lecture. I am well and properly chastised. I will do penance for my inconsiderate thoughts, and am off now for some well deserved self flagellation. After that I'll kneel on broken glass before the shrine to St. Steven.

And how was Apple doing when he wasn't there?

Seriously. I'm done with this thread and most likely this forum as i'm disgusted with peoples attitudes here.

There is so much negativity on here now I have no idea what the Admins and Mods can do about it.

This forum does exist without Jobs though.

Undoubtedly, it was a sad event. A human life ended sooner than expected, but I do not value or devalue his life any more or less than I would any other public figure. Of course, I don't care to be rude about it, I'm just realistic.

Mods cannot do anything about people being negative. There are no written rules against being a negative person and if there are then this is a site that no one should want to visit because a negative attitude, in my opinion, is very subjective much of the time.

This is one of those times where you may need to extract yourself from a thread. There are threads that I read but cannot post to for a variety of reasons. PRSI comes to mind. While I fully respect those who are quite active there, I try to duck out without comment because some of the things people write are astounding. I only do that for me, I'm not trying to avoid punishment from the mod squad; it is merely how I am.

eddiexhart, there will never be a time where some stranger is going to tell me what I should and should not be doing with respects to a public figure's death. My suggestion is take the time to mourn him if you wish, don't chastise those who don't halt at your command.

You're right. The forum does still exist but it and Apple probably wouldn't have to the scale it is now and this forum would have most likely been a blog if it wasn't for Steve. :)

Any way. I appreciate your reply and sound advice. I will duck out of this thread. People posting in a thread they don't even care about is always annoying to see.

What is there in this thread to care about? Pretty much all the OP said was "The Apple store is down, people are impatient to get iPhones and Steve Jobs is still dead."

Fascinating.

Why are people so focused on Steve Jobs' death? He was a genius, he will be missed. If I were him, or anyone who had a profound and lasting effect, that is what I'd want people to be talking about. I'd want people to talk about what I did during my life, focusing on that.

It may seem negative, but to me the negativity is when the main focus of Steve Jobs seems to have become -his death-. How morbid is that?

People are remembering his life on the anniversary of his death.....on an Apple forum.

I really need to step out this thread for my own sanity.

I think people care more about the passing of their favorite Nascar driver/celebrity more than their own grandmother.

Steve Jobs was quite the innovator, but get over it. Go visit one of your relatives grave sites today. ;)

And so do you it seems. And I'm not the one having a tantrum about the negative replies in this thread either and threatening to leave the forum.

It has been over a year. Time to get over his death now. I come here to talk about Apple tech, tech solutions, potential problems and where other companies and products stand in comparison in the industry and from a consumer point of view. Not about their old CEO, who was undeniably brilliant, but has been dead for over a year now (and most likely didn't have much to do with Apple's products from the last three years because of his illness).

Are you leaving yet or what?

He isn't going to stop, he's going to keep posting and keep pretending he has some moral superiority.

It's how pathetic people get through their days.

This thread is hilarious.. I laugh at the OP. "Have you all not forgotten?" blah blah blah.. The man passed away a year ago and still makes money off his name!
