None. No Apple TV+, No Apple Music, no YoutUbe, No Netflix, No Spotify. Nothing.

I've simplified everything this month by selling my house and the only payments I will have going forward is rent, car insurance and cell phone bill. I don't like unnecessary payments.

For someone who hates subscriptions, I have far too many.

I'm thinking of cancelling Xbox game pass, I've not used that as much as I thought I would. OnStar is too expensive, and I'll be either dropping down a tier or two, but I won't cancel it outright as I do like some of the features. AudioBooks, is something my kids use, so that has to stay and I'll probably just get Apple One and cancel Apple iCloud+ I don't think I'm really using that to any extent and since Apple One gives me iCloud storage, it seems like it might be a good idea.

1Password
Apple iCloud+
Apple Music
AudioBooks
Carrot Weather
NetFlix
Office
OnStar
Sirius XM
Xbox Games Pass

1Password, which I justify because it evolves constantly for website compatibility and security. It solves passwords for my whole family and that's a huge value for me.

Ulysses, which I begrudgingly justify because 1) I've got hundreds of thousands of words worth of text invested, so there would be a huge cost to switching systems and 2) I just haven't yet found anything that works as well for me. That said, I'd jump ship if something truly compelling came along. Not just because of the software rental model, but also because they haven't truly improved anything in ages. It's a feature-mature app, and I also feel like a lot of my yearly rental money is going them noodling with the UI (and sometimes making it worse), and toward developing the iPadOS version, which I don't use or care about at all.

Adobe Creative Cloud, which I just need to produce money-generating work. I know there are alternatives, but I've got a lot of assets that exist in Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, so switching would cost me a ton of hours which I'd rather be spending doing something else.

Office 365, which I only am paying for to have access to PowerPoint which I need for freelance sometimes. This, I'd happily drop in a heartbeat, but a fraction of any paid PPT project will pay for a year's subscription.

On my phone, I pay annually for Deliveries because it's cheap and works brilliantly.

I'm not including content subscriptions like Spotify and streaming apps, or cloud services like iCloud. Whole different category from renting software.

I just made a lot of changes to cut my costs with subscriptions from almost 300 euros per month to 92 and I am pretty happy about it.

Subscriptions I have currently:

- ScreenTime - to monitor usage on my kids' phones, 3.75e/mo
- VPS for my blog, 3.43e/mo
- Zoho email/calendar hosting, 4e/mo
- Managed Nextcloud for file sharing and syncing, 4.84/mo
- Mailchimp - email marketing for my wife's shop, 22e/mo
- A VPS I use as VPN to watch live TV from Italy, 5.98e/mo
- Commento - a commenting system for my blog, 4e/mo
- Apple iCloud storage, 2.99e/mo
- Backblaze B2 - object storage for backups and assets for my app, 3e/mo
- Canva - to design various things, 12e/mo
- UpDown - uptime monitoring for my blog and my wife's shop, 3e/mo
- Todoist - task manager, 3e/mo
- Mailplace - SMTP provider, 3e/mo
- GoRails - screencasts about Ruby on Rails, 11e/mo
- Vimeo - video hosting, 6e/mo

Some of the things above have replaced more expensive options. I also got rid of Netflix (didn't like much the available content, might look into other options), 1Password (replaced with EnPass after someone shared an awesome offer for a lifetime premium license for just $29), Plausible Analytics (which I am now selfhosting), You Need A Budget (replaced with Money Pro, a Mac app with a one time purchase fee), YouTube Premium (Brave removes ads :D), Ngrok (replaced with free Cloudflare Tunnel). Can't remember what else.

What about you? How much do you spend and for what kind of subscriptions? :)

I'm going to presume you do not mean stuff like cell phone bills and ISP/CableTV bills.

So then…

Dropbox - ~$22/month for 3TB.
Google One - ~$2/month. Originally got this when we were on Android/Pixel, but since they have an iOS app now I've allowed it to continue. It's 1TB of storage.

Apple One Premier - bundle cost same as items we were already using
Overcast
TunnelBear VPN
Carrot Weather
Fuelly
Various streaming services like Netflix, etc
BackBlaze

After many years of using Microsoft Office, we dumped it and switched to the Apple apps.

Not a big fan of subscriptions, but my only subscription outside of iCloud storage is Deliveries. And that's mostly because I also share the app with my siblings.

I have Deliveries as well. For me, it is with the $5 a year, even if I do get a large numbers of deliveries a year. For the ones I do get, they are usually Apple related and want quick access.

Hulu (+Spotify) Got a sweet deal
Disney+
Amazon Prime (for now- will be canceling)
Paramount + (Gotta have my Star Trek!)
Splice (my go to video editing app)
Apple Arcade
Also pay for a VPN

I had to check this one. I think I got them all

Amazon Prime
Apple Music
AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss (For my iPhone)
ExpressVPN
iCloud+ 200 GB
Spotify
Strava

I canceled my Apple One because I didn't really have time to use most of the features

Tell me more

I just used a VPN with YT and it worked right away. With Netflix I couldn't use public VPNs because they block them and I couldn't use my Finnish credit card from another country. I solved with help from someone who has access to residential proxies (not blocked) so I bought and activated a gift card for Turkey. :D
