Only inconvenience I'm finding is I can't handle around the house it with one hand as mentioned above (comparing it to the MBP 13" M1, the 14" was not as easy as this one but certainly, easiest than the 16") and sometimes I have to make some more room in the table I'm gonna place it, but that's all. These are my first world problems. So losing all of the above just for this, IDK, seems childish or more nostalgic than anything else.
How much time per day you spend needing to hold it with one hand vs how much time do you spend looking at the screen?

You're still very much on the fence. I think you will have less regret of not getting the 14 if you went with the 16, but will absolutely regret not getting the 16 if you went for the 14. The 16 is the better machine. The only knock is portability because of its footprint but it's still very capable portable device. Plus the battery life is way better.

Apple just needs to cancel the 16", like they canceled the 27" iMac. Then there will be no more hand-wringing about which size to get.
Instead there will be endless threads arguing that canceling the 16" was the right thing for Apple to do. ;)

Very tempted to get the 16 inch now myself and return the 14 inch. my main usage will be at home the only time it will be used on the go and at the office will be for investigations and certain spreadsheets that needing updating. I do like the biggest possible screen and the 16 inch makes the most sense from this point of view. nothing against the 14 inch as it's amazing and if I was unable to return it I certainly wouldn't be upset as it's still a big improvement on my past laptop machines≥

One more thing that might help. There is much less chance that your app menubar text will spilt across the notch on the 16", and I use Bartender to make sure it doesn't happen with the menubar icons on the right.

Dang, I'm still deciding and you already made the swap ... within 20 minutes, that's bold!!!

Ha, do admit some of the people who have the 16 inch in the replies helped convince me. It’s more for my usage I feel the size with be fine and also I will never use it in coffee shops or on airplanes or anything like that.

I just feel the bigger screen and battery life makes the most sense

To my surprise got a notification for delivery tomorrow :)

Well guys, I was too happy about it and the decision was almost made. Yesterday night I found something disturbing but not worrying ... but this morning things got worst and I can hear a creaking sound when playing with the position screen. It's really bugging me out cause every time I touch or move the screen, even by a bit, I hear these sounds.

I'm attaching a couple of videos so you can judge by yourselves as well. Thing is, if I return it, being a in-shop purchase if they don't have stock I'll have to wait, and the dates seem to be late April for this. "Good" news? My 14" order is still not cancelled and window starts next week. Maybe this problem and the rush to have a new machine (needed to work) have made the decision for me. What do you think?

Turns out mine does that occasionally, but I've never noticed it before because my house isn't silent and I don't reposition the screen like I'm having a wank. ?

But if it bothers you, you should return it and just console yourself with the inferior screen size. ?

Lol, that was for demonstration purposes only, the repeated reposition ... but mine does it all the time (that's what she said xD)

Yup, it bothers me ... so decisions should be made and fast :D even if they have compromises, a great power comes with a great responsability hahahaha

update: it seems the hinge is not the issue here, it does the sound cause MBP cripples/limps a little bit, maybe less than 0.1mm, but it does, and that's the sound I'm hearing even just touching the screen sometimes, I think it's the rubber feet, cause if I firmly press where the feet are and I play with the screen position, sound is not there anymore or not as audible ... why I have this suspicion? Cause even typing on when using the trackpad on table surfaces, I did hear it occasionally, that creak/tap, sometimes even just resting the hands on the palm rests, but never had the sensation when using it on my lap ... maybe it's related to the backplate not being totally screwed or partially misaligned ... or even the rubber feet are just with a difference of microns and that creates the issue of the tap sound.

Anyway, given this situation, I don't think I'm returning it if I stick with the 16" form factor ... the only thing that I should change is the computer name and maybe call it "GregHouseMax" ?

Final update: I'm sticking to 14" form factor, I know 16" is a better machine, but after a week and a half I noticed I'm not using it as a laptop as much as I did with my old M1 Pro 14".

Reasons:
- I know it's not that big, but for me, it feels that way after so many years of 13" size; even just around the house, handling is tedious to me and it's uncomfortable to have to displace a lot of stuff in order to make room for the laptop, and when it lands, it's a tank and most of the times it will land on the body rather on the feet.
- Sometimes trying to work in crowded/tiny places adds an unpleasant position to my arm in order to reach the keyboard or switching keyboard/trackpad. In the couch and on my lap, it wins though.
- I feel I'm wasting most of the screen real estate when not working, and off-dock/display, it's not going to happen that much.
- 16" will give me best results for the first 2 years which I'm going to use this as my only-one machine, but after that, I won't be using it as a laptop as I'd do with 14", and as a laptop, has to last at least 6
- I do love the proportions of the 14" for a true portable machine as mentioned, even this sacrifices some benefits.

What i'm going to miss are the speakers and sometimes, temperatures, battery is not going to be a concern.

Thanks to all of you guys, for all your inputs and all your suggestions. Both are great machines and whatever you decide, it's gonna be ok, at the end, it's like a lot of folks told me, it's a pure personal decision, but it's hard to understand at the beginning. Even I know the 16" is better, I'm gonna be more comfortable with the 14" in the long term ... so everyone has its own needs and their paths to happiness with their purchases.

Hope I found mine with the MBP and the laptop that is coming is the definitive one.

Thanks again, truly :)
