Easy.

1. Boot with the Command button+r to boot into Recovery Mode.

2. In Recovery Mode select Disk Utility to reformed the drive and then do a reinstall.

3. Wait for it to finish.

WARNING: Backup before trying to do the clean install!!! Plus get the up your update versions of your Applications from the MacApp Store & MacUpdate.com that are ready for 10.10.

Like any other OS, Yosemite does not like to be started and run on reformed or deformed drives ;)

I'm sure you mean reformat.

I know this sounds dumb...but

First of all thank you all for helping me with the clean install, but that didn't do it. Off to the Apple store, it's time for a new one [Murphy's law].

How do you reload top sites in Yosemite? or can you.

Far left side of your favourites bar is a small icon of a grid of 12 dots, that loads your Top Sites. On each Top Site in the panel you can hover over the top left corner and a X and a pin appear, X to remove, Pin to keep. You can also drag the current URL to the favourites bar icon to add a Top Site that way....

I have new tabs set to open with Top Sites...

Then how did you restore your user account? I think from your initial 3rd problem you have a permissions issue going on....

I restored my system using command+R and I also restored permissions and the same problems exist. Thank you all. I just want everyone to know what I did. Even my Apple store is scratching their head, in the mean time they are going to replace my HD.

Cool - just be aware that if you restore the HDD with a new drive, then create your account, then restore it from a backup you can still end up with permissions issues if the created and restored accounts have the same name....

Thanks but you make it sound hopeless.

I am erasing my external HDD and I'll just give this Mac to my Nephew as soon as they replace the drive. Once again, thank you for your time.
