Probably, as the iPod touch runs basically the same OS. Don't know about performance though.
2nd gen ipod touch should be able to handle it better than iphone 3G, since its CPU and RAM are decent bit faster. The speed difference is really noticable when running the two side-by-side. Not quite as fast as the 3Gs or ipt3g, but still pretty quick.
