I don't mind having stock apps like Mail, Stock and Weather, but I would love to delete Tips, Apple Watch and Compass. Shouldn't Tips and Apple Watch reside in Settings? And Compass in Maps...?

However, Apple does offer good stock apps like Calendar, Notes, etc.

As for bloatware.... My gf's new Galaxy Note 4 came with Uber app installed. THAT's bloatware. Can't even uninstall it. Yes, it's possible to "hide" it, but the app still takes up space.

This sounds extremely strange, but Maps app icon disappeared on my 5S with 8.4.1!

I was just taking Maps app icon out of folder, and then moving it to a different page. While the page was moving, I think I let go of my finger from the screen, and the icon was gone.

So yeah... If you want to hide stock apps for now, you can try that method.

You'll probably find it hasn't gone and is just in a folder. Do spotlight search and on the right of the app name, it'll tell you where. I've done that before.

Yeah, the app does show up in Spotlight. But the app icon is nowhere to be found. I looked everywhere... Even restarting the phone doesn't bring it back. I will have to "reset home screen", but I don't want to go thorough rearranging all the app icons.

it doesn't list a folder to the right of it? If not, it's probably on a new home screen to the right.

Did a hard reset, and the icon came back... It reappeared on the next available spot on the last home screen.

I tried the same trick again to make some icons disappear, but no success. Must have been a bug that required an elaborate input lol.

This exact same thing just happened to me with another (3rd party) app. I wasn't trying to replicate it or anything, my thumb just slipped. I had the same resolution as you with a hard reset.

About the only app I'd consider removing [on iOS 10] is the Watch app. No plans to get one; I work outside and it would last less than six months. Coming from a LG G3 with eternal AT&T bloat, I'd say the stock iOS apps are just fine, but I guess that's just my perspective.
