I used a similar “no risk trial” from T-mobile 10 months ago and I’m still fighting to have my final $500 returned. Be careful who you give your cc info to, because they don’t like to give money back
I signed up for the old T-Mobile Test Drive program where they sent me a hotspot, and also the more recent T-Mobile Network Pass program using eSIM - neither asked for CC info or even had me make an account / password. That was part of the ease in which I could test T-Mobile's network with only having to give my name, email, phone number.

How do you know it's terrible if you haven't used it? It's much better than Verzion for me.
The only problem I ever had with any of the Big Four is AT&T had zero coverage somewhere I went often. Switched to VZW and haven't had any issues

Depends on where you are. Especially after the Sprint merger, they’re kicking Verizon & AT&T’s butts in a lot of areas.

From a performance standpoint they are kicking Verizon & AT&T's butt in the vast majority of the country. Both Verizon and AT&T need to kick it into the the next gear because they are falling behind quickly in terms of network performance.

With T-Mobile 500+ Mbps download is very common now. And Now T-Mobile is pushing 5G SA nationwide. I with T-Mobile would fix there customer service aspect they are lacking there but the network is superior.

I am assuming this is like the Visible eSim trial. There is no credit card needed. You install a profile on your iPhone for the eSim and it works for 30 days then just stops working.

In the Chicago area. T-Mobile cannot handle crowds, at all. Go to a music festival early and it works fine. Once the crowds show up, you can't even get a text message out, while the Verizon customers around you are live streaming video.

Unfortunately 500 Mbps download on T-Mobile is just about as common as 1 bar of service on T-Mobile. Great when you're standing near a tower. Not great in the real world.

Verizon is generally the one that works, in areas where AT&T and T-Mobile are unusable.
And T-Mobile is the one that works where AT&T and Verizon are unusable.

And AT&T is the one that works where T-Mobile and Verizon are unusable.

No carrier is perfect. Some work better in areas don’t. But Verizon has overall gone downhill in a lot of areas compared to the others.

I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile three months ago. I got tired of dealing with their price increases. They added a $12 charge on to all people who didn't have unlimited plans and that was the thing that got me to finally switch. I had been with them 10 years. T-Mobile's service is SO much better where I am than Verizon ever was. Verizon's towers were routinely overloaded to the point that it was impossible to connect. T-Mobile has been great, once I got past how badly they tried to bungle my switch over and how they almost gave away my phone number. And I am paying $50 less, even after giving up my 20% employee discount.
No matter what forum or social media site the carrier fanboys jump in and post about T-Mobile. Funny as hell 😂

I'm not a fanboy of anything. I was just posting my experiences with Verizon. If T-Mobile started sucking or didn't work out, I'd gladly leave them. Where I come from, Verizon was great and T-Mobile was the joke. Where I live now, it's better than Verizon.

The thing I find funny as hell is those who jump to the defense of a corporation that couldn't give a crap about any of us. 😅

Tried them for 3 months. Made a trip to Denver from Texas and had a signal about 10% of the time vs 80% with Verizon. Will gladly pay extra money for Verizon’s service.

How recent was it? And did you go the TX panhandle / New Mexico route, or through KS/OK?

Now if only they could fix their billing. Now don’t get me wrong, I am the biggest Verizon fan you can ever find. But sometimes even the best makes mistakes. I have two lines of service and I use all of the extra features like no paper bills and auto pay with a debit card. It’s the debit cards that have become the problem. I noticed several months ago that my bill had gone up around 50 dollars per month for what I could tell was no reason. After a while I found out that they were no longer giving me my discount for the auto pay. I spent a good amount of time on the phone with them and no one could explain why it was happening. After a day had passed I received a call saying that Verizon had changed their policy and no Mastercard or Visa card is given the discount even if it is a debit card as was required before. It took me about one minute to get what this is about. Verizon has their own card now and they seem to make you get it if you want the discount.
I have only been told this by one employee so I need to check in with someone else. But if true, that is a very bad thing.
Doesn't make sense to me. You must have some very big bill if you are getting a $50 discount for autopay. The discount is $5 or $10 a month per line depending on how many lines you have so that is a minimum of five lines. You have five-10 lines? We have autopay for several years and keep a regular credit card on file. We have never had to use a debit or anything but a regular credit card.

Funny, it was T-Mobile's Test Drive (30 days) and subsequent Network Pass (3 months) that got me to switch from Verizon. I gave up my 50% off VZ employee discount because of how much better T-Mobile's service is on the west side of Cleveland. My family and I can now use our phones, and the International service on Magenta Max is soo much better than the ridiculous $10/day TravelPass (employee discount didn't apply to this for some reason).
TMob test drive helped lure me away from AT&T.

Like T-mobile? I’m still dealing with identity theft from their lax security and breach last year. Your post proves my point, I didn’t jump to defend any company so uhh projection?

You quoted my post and then said: “No matter what forum or social media site the carrier fanboys jump in and post about T-Mobile. Funny as hell 😂”. Perhaps you can see how that felt targeted?

Saying negative things about a company and positive things about another is not being a fanboy, it’s sharing experience. I actually have no brand loyalty for any brand. I go wherever the deal is best for me and I move on when that’s no longer the case.

Sorry to hear about what you went through with them though. That does suck. That would likely be enough to make me leave. It‘s pretty awful when a company that you trust with your personal info screws up like that.

I’m about to try T-Mobile in NM. Verizon here has turned trash. I was the biggest supporter coming over from Sprint.. but holy smokes. Now that my iPhone 14 pro is unlocked, I can try TMO.

Apparently you either havent tried T-Mobile since 2002 or you live in the middle of nowhere Nebraska because T-Mobile has gotten so much better and is practically the leader at this point.
really, last time i was with tmobile was back in 2017, as soon as i get into any elevator or basement parking lot here in nyc the signal is nonexistent, i know this is still the case today cause the folks who i call who are on tmobile still warns me that they are getting into a elevator.

I carry two phones. One on T-mobile and one on Verizon. Here in NYC and surrounding areas, T-mobile is the best overall. Each has it's dead spots, and usually one works when the other doesn't, which is why I don't use the same carrier for both phones. But I noticed, Verizon has more trouble spots nowadays.

T-mobile LTE whether 4G or 5G is always much faster with data.

Verizon has faster mmwave 5G than T-mobile. But mmwave is so fast, the difference in speed between the two carriers has no real world effect.

When dealing with some elevators or building basements, both carriers go out. It's rare that one carrier would work while the other doesn't.

T-mobile use to completely suck outside of city limits, but 5G has changed that, now I get good service in rural areas, which was only something to be had with Verizon. Also get good service in the West Coast, which before 5G service was spotty.

IMO, both carriers are solid, but you'll definitely get a better bang for the buck with T-mobile.

Do you have 5G coverage according to the Verizon cell phone map?
If so, dial *3001#12345#* for the iPhone test mode, select Nr Rach Attempt, look at RSRQ and RSRP. If RSRP > -120, or -115 and RSRQ > -18 or -15, you have good signal. It might be a backhaul issue.

Call Verizon tech support, ask for 2nd tier, report the RSRP and RSRQ numbers. It may be tower issues.

I'm in NYC/Manhattan and have for 10 years gotten good service, using iPhone yearly upgrades, so on the iPhone 14 Pro Max now. The chief reason for yearly upgrades is the improvement in cell phone signal/modem (now the X65).

I use the phone for tethering and for both phone and tethering to the laptop I get about 100-250 Mbps download with a relatively weak signal (-110, -17). The tethering and overall signal is much better now than the 13 PM at same locations.

I'm curious what you come up with.

I am in NYC/Manhattan and Verizon has by far the best service in NYC. More spectrum, more towers, than AT&T and T-mobile. Lower frequency spectrum, eg, 700 MHz which Verizon has, goes the farthest with interference of skyscrapers, subways, etc. T-mobile I think now has some 600 MHz spectrum, so might not be so bad.
