Tablets like the Surface and the Dell Venue only sell when they're on price cuts for the most part. And they're going to keep doing these promotions until they can't find any consumers to fall for it anymore.

I dunno about the Venue, but the Surface Pro line has been selling modestly well since it's introduction, and the Pro 2 has only continued that trend. It's the RT, which MS expected to fly off store shelves, that's been the huge disappointment.

When I look at these other tablets for $99 and less, I wonder if that is because the company in question is just more generous or is that the most they can ask for it? I assume the latter just as Apple can ask $300+ for their tablets, because the market is willing to pay for the Apple product. Does this equate to revolutionize, a solid maybe... :)

no way, hybrid isnt that interesting
either tablet or laptop, it runs at an half of full capacity
tablet must own OS based on tactile and be as simple as possible: either iOS or Android. this is only multimedia stuff no more
in the other hand, laptop requires none tactile OS and dedicated for heavy software: this is multimedia workstation
i believe many people have own smartphone or tablet either, not necessary from Apple.
personally, i have smartphone, no tablet and bought Macbook few days ago.
i didnt feel the need to buy hybrid.
purchased Macbook Air for Surface Pro's cost and i didnt regret at all
better battery life, true keyboard, one true OS (hate Windows 8 so much)...
