and back on topic ... Gordy, I love how your desk fits perfectly into that little tucked in area. Was that desk custom fit to it? or it juts so happened to fit so nicely? And the backboard below the desk is awesome! it covers up what I believe could a big cable mess

It's custom made to fit in the alcove, the backboard does in deed hide and real mess of cables. They are all zip tied up so they don't hang down. It makes moving something slightly harder but I cannot stand cables showing!

The only two cables now on show one is for power as the socket is a distance away (When I get time I will putting a new one in behind the desk. And a network cable going to my girlfriends mac mini. Sometime in the future an intel one with wireless is on the cards for her.

I actually have the USB wireless receiver plugged into the back of my Apple Cinema Display. The ACD has a built in USB/Firewire hub. If you haven't already, go to logitech.com and download the latest software for the S 530. They released updated software a week ago.

When I had my LCD hooked up primarily to my lappy, this is how I preferred it:

I do mine stacked (there's no option in the poll for that) I have my 19" wide screen right above my open macbook. When recording I can have my tracks on the wide screen and plug ins on the macbook

I'm actually just using the desktop set as-is without any drivers. I was originally planning on getting the Apple Wireless Keyboard as I didn't really need any of the extra features from this keyboard anyhow. So i just use this keyboard for it's basics .. and i LOVE the feel of the keys, much more so than the Apple keyboard. My mouse's buttons is configured with SteerMouse.

Is there any advantage to using the Logitech software other than having those extra media keys available? I'm reluctant to install the Logitech software as I've read too many horrible reviews about it.

That is the 2nd option

i will change that 2nd option to make it a little more accomodating as i see a couple eccentric people with the 2 items in-line .. :D

edit:: oh .. poop .. i can't rename the options .. i guess it'll have to do just selecting the 2nd option if you have it above, below, infront behind .. as long as it's inline :)

The horror stories were due to the old software. Logitech has released new software for this set. I have had no problems whatsoever with it. Don't use the cd that came with it. Just download the new software from logitech.com and use it. If you are going to use the keyboard, it's nice to have all the buttons working. Also, I like the mouse much better than the Bluetooth Mighty Mouse. Although, I do like the scroll ball on the MM, when it works properly.

How long do you guys think it will be until we can get a decent WIRELESS connection between computer and display?

This would be great, especially for laptops, and recently I set up a Dell (not my own) and it had a horrible amount of those screw-in plugs...truly dreadful...
