What are some of your favorite free/cheap shareware programs, and what are they?

(In no particular order)

1) Transmit - ftp
2) Mac Stumbler - presence/singal/strength of wireless networks
3) ClearDock - removes translucent background from the Dock
4) Camino - browser
5) VLC - media player

no order.

of the ones that are already in the system my favorite is terminal. (the itunes and iphoto too)

others:

- BBedit

- Safari and Links

- Notes

- Photoshop

- Toy Viewer and Image Indexer. Both are really small softweares, fast and do exactly what they promise. Especially Image Indexer saves a lot of work. :)

Photoshop isn't freeware...

1. Spark ME (audio recorder)
2. MacJanitor
3. VLC
4. FTP Thingy
5. DVTimeLapse

1. Weatherpop/Meteorologist (latter has been a bit buggy...)
2. MacJanitor
3. KeepSoundAwake (10.2.6 may have fixed this, but maybe not...)
4. Fugu - sftp/scp app

These are the four apps I use practically every day. I also use CodeTek Multiple Desktop - though recent avalanche of updates got me a little weary that these guys are not checking their apps too carefully as a part of their development process... A bit too much fire-fighting to me...

not "exactly" freeware/shareware but Safari, QT Pro and iChat AV are fine apps from Apple.

No particular order:

Transmit
EvoCam
Konfabulator
Okito Composer
Kung-Log

I obviously didnt include Apple freeware... if I did the list would look like:

Safari
iTunes
iChat
iPhoto
iMovie

1. LaunchBar
2. see #1
3. Default Folder
4. iView Media Pro
5. Transmit

LaunchBar is the greatest thing to happen to the Mac UI since MultiFinder. I am sooo old ;(

I used to use MacJanitor, then switched to Cocktail.

I used to use Cocktail, then switched to OnyX. More features.

1. OnyX
2. iBank
3. Proteus
4. TransparentDock
5. VLC

Spark ME
Greenoak Crystal AU Synth (AMAZING)
WeatherPop
NetNewsWire
iChat AV (this is the kewlest thing i have ever seen since the last thing that i thought was the coolest thing i had ever seen)

no aprticular order...
WATSON -- the only way i choose to get tv and movie listings
ADIUM -- chat with tabs, one whole window holding everything (including buddylists), and dock notifications.
R-NAME -- renames any number of files, any way you want
FRUITMENU -- custom apple menu and contextual menus
TINKERTOOL -- easy, one-step access to all the os x custom confiurations

almost in my top 5...
OMNI GRAFFLE -- forget visio
OMNI OUTLINER -- i love outlines and lists

Excluding Apple freebies, and in no order.

Drag Thing
Amadeus
XNap
BBEdit Lite
LiFTP
