Only problem with pro tube is that the UI is kinda ugly and the comments system is totally screwed up. You can't reply to comments and all you can see now is "shared by a user on google plus". Kinda ruins the YouTube experience when you can't see comments
Yep. I agree.
Still no ETA on fix.![]()
Is that confirmed? Have you tried?Ads have nothing to do with it. YouTube offers a subscription service called "YouTube Red" which they charge $10/month for. One of the features it offers is PiP on the iPad. So the YouTube iPad app DOES support PiP, but it is only enabled if you subscribe to YouTube Red.
It's not the ad, it's the YouTube red.I'm not convinced by the argument that YouTube will never support PiP because of ads.
Twitch has ads and their app supports Split Screen/Slide Over and PiP.
PiP doesn't stop ads from playing.
The main draw back is protube doesn't work with youtube's history feature. The 'history' in protube only shows what you watched in protube, not those you watched on other platforms. Without this, protube barely updates 'recommended' section.
Yessss. Still wish I could reply to comments, but this is good news!I just noticed this tweet of ProTube that YouTube updated their API for comments which ProTube uses. They are saying the comments are now resolved.
Is that confirmed? Have you tried?
No, I haven't subscribed to YouTube Red. But I have the YouTube app installed on my iPad Pro, and there is a section in the app that explains YouTube Red and what features it includes, and PiP on iPad is listed there as one of the features. Another feature is no more ads when you are watching videos, and lastly there is some new YouTube Red exclusive content now being added to their catalog. It sounds like they are going to add exclusive programs kind of like how Netflix has House of Cards.
I don't think red will bring PIP. YouTube said red support background playback, which should be just audio playback in the background. To support PIP, the app needs to use apple official video player, which apparently YouTube is not doing. No, I haven't subscribed to YouTube Red. Why would it then be listed as a feature by YouTube as observed in the previous post?I don't think red will bring PIP. I think he may have made a mistake.... All I see in YouTube red feature list is 'background playback',Why would it then be listed as a feature by YouTube as observed in the previous post?
