iPad YouTube app on iOS 11 - continuous background activity

It somehow fixed itself yesterday. I didn't do a thing. I deliberately left Youtube open in the background, while in the middle of a video. Checked on it this morning and background activity is gone. The video continued playing from where I left off. In fact it played an ad before continuing lol.

Perhaps when I disabled background app fresh globally it took a few days to take effect Though Youtube itself I had always disabled background activity.

Thank god I kept Protube!

I bought Protube years ago, don't have an iPhone, but might go back for an 8 Plus. LOVED ProTube.

I heard Protube was discontinued and not in the App Store anymore ? If so, how do you use it on a new phone ?

YouTube is killing my standby time as well on my 8 Plus. Super frustrating.
