Is that’s the only way ?I have the same problem with the last update from store.
Just uninstalled it and play thru safari.
what’s the cause of this problem.iOS or YouTube itself ?Same here after installing 11.2 beta 1 on my iPhone 8 Plus. Phone getting rather warm, wonky connection, and huge battery drain. Hoping it will be solved soon with an update.
Hope they’ll update app soon. This reminds me of a previous occasion when the YouTube app was draining the battery. That was fixed with this update:
I’d hesitate to say that the current issue is the same, but the symptoms certainly sound similar.
This is very true. After all this so called “bug fixe” updates, there still this serious battery drain bug.Yeah I just checked the usage on my iPad. Youtube was responsible for 25% of my battery usage in the last 24 hrs. Thing is, I'd only been using the app for 20 minutes.
This is yet another issue I have with the weekly update model most major apps have adopted. Its an endless stream of opaque "bug fix" claims, but this tinkering under the hood feels like it introduces issues as often as it fixes them.
I know there is no such thing as perfectly bug-free software, but it seems like in the past few years we've gotten into this mentality that its ok for software experiences to feel like endless betas (or alphas, to be honest) where there is no amount of jank, slop or glitchiness that isn't simply dismissed as "hey there'll always be bugs."
I really wish Apple didn't take out the app size in the updater. I like knowing how long I have to wait for an app to download. This reminds me of a previous occasion when the YouTube app was draining the battery. That was fixed with this update:

It'd be good if they would actually list the actual update size as often the size that was listed there wasn't actually what ended up being downloaded due to delta updates and app slicing and all that.I really wish Apple didn't take out the app size in the updater. Yes it seems to have been solved. No heating issues, connection stable, smooth scrolling, and normal battery usage (2% for 15 minutes playback 1440p).
