I like how one of the points made is "without Flash, we can't do this", and the "this" links to an "unavailable in your country" message. That doesn't really make me feel excited about Flash :p

And for the record, I don't really mind Flash if it's used properly.

That's a link to YouTube Rentals, which has zero to do with Flash or HTML5. You're not missing much from a quick look at it.

If you were in the United States, you'd get access to rentals. This is basically a sort of Hulu service. Flash enables Hulu and other DRM content streaming over the web.

Although that video in particular might not be, there's plenty of content in most territories that's affected.

In the UK for example the entire catch up content of Channels 4 & 5 goes up on YouTube, but requires RTMPE and SWF Verification to be used, so no HTML5 for that ever.

Given this professional studio content is a big part of YouTube's business plan (they expect a third of the videos they serve to be like this by 2012 IIRC) this is very significant.
