Searched for this, but didn't see any report of it yet.

I just jailbroke my 1.1.3 iPhone using the new ZiPhone application (on OSX).

Everything seems to be working well except for:

[1] The "Customize" application launches, freezes for a couple of seconds, then crashes and opens back to the home screen.

I remember from my previous Jailbreaking days (before I inadvertantly upgraded to 1.1.3) that Customize would sometimes crash on its initial opening, but work fine when you launched it again -- this isn't the case this time

[2] Summerboard Themes: I've downloaded several, but only certain ones are showing up in the theme list from SMB preferences.

(Not sure if this is an issue with Customize and 1.1.3, or something specific to the ZiPhone hack).

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this and if there might be a solution. I miss Customize (I want 5 icons on my dock!)

Thanks

May I ask how you did this using OSX? Have only seen methods for windows so far. Thanks!

I think I posted this elsewhere a few hours ago, but here ya go:
==================
This REALLY easy way to jailbreak iPhones running 1.1.3 just came out.
I just did it and it was REALLY easy. Only took about 5 minutes. And how I have the Installer app back and all its associated programs.

If you want to do it, unzip the attached file to your desktop and follow these instructions:

Here is what you have to do:

1. upgrade your iphone with itunes to 1.1.3

2. download ziphone : http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=2132 and Unzipit on a folder on your desktop

4.Run terminal on mac (aplications/utilities/terminal) change folder to the one you have unziped the tool.

cd desktop

cd ziphone

5 now drag the file ziphone file (ignore the .exe file) to the terminal window and and add at the end of the adress -j -a

6 now if you are on a mac should see something like:

Macintosh:~ yourname$ /Users/yourname/Desktop/ZiPhone/ziphone -j -a

on windows it looks much alike.

7 Hit enter. The program will tell you to disconnect, shut down the iphone, press home button and reconnec. The iphone will enter in recovery mode. ( I didn't have to do anything -- just let it run; phone restarted on its own)

8 The program will display “wait 45 seconds″, so wait
9 the iphone will reboot and you will see on the program “done”

10 now you have an jailbroken / activated iphone.

I'm having the same problem with a windows hacked version using ziphone. My youtube isnt working either. Does anyone know what to do?

Already started, I guess we will see if it works.

It seems to be stuck on wait 45. Maybe because I am in recovery mode.

Hmmmmmm... I just checked my YouTube. It's not working, either.

Perhaps we were all premature in jumping on the latest Jailbreak...

the weird thing is customize worked the first time i opened it, but after that it didn't work. i might try the whole process again.

Guys, install the iPodTouchFans repository. They have a version that works great with 1.1.3. Even the carrier looks good except you will have to manually change the backup back to your carrier, not iPod.

i was having the same problem customize would start then pause and fail. i redid the whole process starting from restoring and then it worked fine. kinda... now it opens and lets u change things but they dont change u know?..

Where is that located in the Installer apps list? Can't seem to find it....

i see what ur saying. Maybe we should just wait till an update comes out. Did you find out anything about the youtube fix? I've almost tried everything.

Just updated in my phone. Week 52 factory settings before the jailbreak. Customize doesn't work for me either, but Youtube works just as it should.

Stuck at "Please wait 45 Seconds"...

I had this. Disconnect. Go back to Recovery Mode. with the Picture of iTunes and Connect cord on the iPhone's screen. Go to CMD screen and get back to the ziphone directory and to the list of options. like -u -j -a and so on. Select -v (verbose) run this it fixed boot problem and allowed installer app on the phone.

At no time during the ziphone 1.1.3 break was I connected to iTunes. Only after and that works fine. I have new latest baseband and current iTunes.

Here is the URL for the repository http://www.touchrepo.com/repo.xml

I have not tried this on my iPhone yet. Many Installer Apps being fixed for 1.1.3 daily. Hoping Customize and Summerboard with be fixed soon.

Remember its a must to update the installer App. go to Installed Apps and do a reinstall. I believe and New Installer version coming soon that sorts out which apps works with which firmware version.

For me, I had a bit of trouble working with the regular customize and touchfans one, but here is the solution. Install the normal one so that it sets up the folders in /private and so on. Then UNINSTALL that, it wont delete those folders, install the modded, touchrepo, Customize, and then change the backup to AT&T or whatever, not iPod, and then install away. Packages from Installer and manual now work...

When I opened the jailbreak application, it looks like it is all automatic... What are those 10 steps listed? Something different?

customize application on 1.1.1

hey guys, i have a jailbroken ipod touch 1.1.1 & i have the 1.21 version of the customize application in my installer, but unfortunately it does not work on the ipod touch 1.1.1 firmware, because its only for the 1.1.3 firmware.
So could you please help me in installing the customize application on my ipod touch 1.1.1 firmware.

Can you create the Instructions to follow your process. I Understand the Install and Uninstall part. You are saying the current version of Customize does not really uninstall...but creates the necessary folders and remains. Locate in another folder the Customize also resides. Please list process from here.

Thanks buddy.

Well there are many versions. The original, which I liked the best (1.1 never rebooted my phone) is a command prompt, but all you do is type: cd Desktop/ZiPhone, ziphone, put your phone into recovery mode, for my I typed ziphone -j, done in less than a minute. And newer versions have gui's so no more command prompts...

^Thanks, got it working. I'm guessing that I'm one of many who aren't seeing the changes in Customizer... Also, only 4 of the 10 summerboard themes I dl worked...

Here is a tutorial I wrote to help out Erica Sadun with here help emails. Just google "Customize GoogleCode" Download version the version that works with 1.1.1/1.1.2 and follow the instructions below.

Well because you have 1.1.1/1.1.2, you will have to download the app from its respective page. Next, you will need to use your filebrowsing system up and running, WinSCP for Windows or CyberDuck for Mac. Remember you need to have BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH insatlled.
To set up WinSCP: http://modmyifone.com/wiki/index.php/SSH_on_Windows
To set up CyberDuck (Steps 4-6): http://www.iphonealley.com/forums/showthread.php?t=743

Next, go to your applications folder, you should see all the apps you have installed including SMS, Stocks etc. Then, make a folder called AppName.app. After you make the folder, put every file you downloaded into there, then highlight them all, then make the properties or permissions 0755. After you are done with that, reboot your phone and you should be good to go. If you have any more problems/questions, feel free to ask.
