A less techie family member keeps getting these notifications so I removed them in System Preferences but they've re-appeared.
I think I also removed a browser extension first time around. I don't see any strange startup items or processes eating CPU. The Mac is running Sophos Antivirus...
Hi everyone. I have a Linux computer running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, and I was loving it a lot. So one day about two weeks ago, I logged in to my computer so I could check my MacRumors Forums, just like I do everyday, and I logged in to my computer. After the usual loading symbol, I waited for it to...
Hello everyone,
Since updating to 13.3.1 (a few days ago), on some websites (including this one) I get a download pop-up that asks me if I want to download “index.html”. I switched from Safari to Chrome and noticed the same thing happens. The pop-up occurs so frequently, on both my IPhone XR...
Hey guys
I got the Macbook Pro 13 from late 2015 and I love it since it's perfect for my studies.
Yesterday I was grinding my studies as usual since it's exam period and as I was typing in Word a weird message came up saying mmy computer is running low on memory but it looked really weird and...
Today suddenly an app called 'Avast' turned itself on. I did not voluntarily install it - it appears to have made its way onto my system somehow mysteriously last month, from the date I could see of when it was created on my system.
It had an uninstall function but that asked me for my...
Hi all.
Just one of those irritants, I can't get on the engadet.com site because https://guce.advertising.com

But I can't find an extension or anything else.
All works fine in firefox but safari nada. Just...
Hi, I unwittingly downloaded & seemingly installed something called 'World of Tanks' - which I'd never heard of. I don't want it but can't delete it. When I drag the icon from the app folder to the trash I get prompted to enter my password to 'enable changes' - which I don't do of course
I've...
My dad recently received a suspicious text message (he has an Android phone) that he did not respond to but he asked me about. I attempted to forward the message to myself from his phone several times but the forwarded message refused to go through. Is this blocking ability inherent to the...
Hi everyone, new user to the forum in need of some mac advice! I'm an ex-university student who recently graduated. I was given a MacBook Pro as part of my course, I have recently been signed over the ownership rights to the device and have been removing all of the university's programs...
ok, I own an iPhone 8 and had no problem before getting valuable info when I searched for something thru google or safari or any of the search engines. Now when I search for something it looks like this. See pic uploaded I circled the columns and the adware. How do I get my search engines back...
I recently had to recover my mac and reinstall the os using a start up disk which I created via a website called osxdaily. Since then I have noticed graphic issues, (screen brightness changing and weird pixalated images). See attached image. Any guidance would be great as to how to resolve this.
It's like a virus that won't go away.
I tried everything their website recommended for proper uninstallation. Moreover I took time and deleted everything that I could find in various folders within ~/Library
Still every time I open context menu, the crap is there..
And clicking on those...
As the title suggests, I accidentally clicked on a scam email link. I realised my mistake almost instantly and closed the tab before it had time to load. Shortly thereafter, I went to use spotlight to search the term "Malwarebytes Anti Malware", though for some reason typing this phrase crashes...
Interesting story that seemed to be missed in MacRumors news. Unless I missed it.
Apparently Apple chip producer / supplier TSMC was hit with a virus recently that affected production. Story says it “...
Hi all.

This is probably the wrong forum for this question, but since there are no threads I can find about viruses, I have guide as to where it should go.
My anti-virus keeps finding the same virus -- JS_NEMUCOD.SMAA9 -- in my /MobileSync/ folder.
I know it's a Windows virus, but it's irking me no...
Hi guys,
So I finally bought my new MacBook Air after being a Windows fan for years. I'm not really sure how it goes with antivirus in Mac, is it really necessary?
I always thought Mac computers are safe from junk but I googled it and it doesn't look like they are… you think Mac can get...
