First thing I did when the WWDC Conference ended was preorder the 10.5-inch iPad Pro 256GB Wifi in Space Gray. I decided to go with Space Gray this time around for the black bezels. Now I prefer white bezels as I have the 9.7-inch iPad Pro but since the bezels on the new iPad are so thin I thought the black would look the best. Well upon receiving my iPad yesterday of course I opened it up and turned it on. But I became a bit worried as the iPad was not turning on. I tried again and it did but as soon as the Apple logo lit up I saw this white static looking line flash across the black of the screen. So I went and set it up and immediately hated how the black bezels looked with the vibrant wallpapers and colors of iOS. I then turned it off and back on a few more times with the same white static line flashing in different parts upon every single startup. This is officially made my decision to head to my local Apple Store last night right before they closed to exchange it for the Gold one. But upon opening this one I noticed slight backlight bleeding coming from the bottom of the screen along with a fine scratch on the chamfered edge above the charging port. Also for some reason I think the speakers sound slightly muffled compared to the 9.7 iPad Pro. I'm most likely just going to be keeping this one as I know their are much bigger problems I could have. Now I might sound a little OCD but if I'm paying nearly $1,000 for a tablet in my opinion it should be nearly flawless. All I can say is Apple's quality control really sucks. Anyone else have any of these problems?

I can't read what you've written so can only guess that your return key isn't functioning?

My 10.5 is flawless. The only thing I dislike is that I can not get an Apple bottom cover and having to use a third party cover instead. As much as Apple charges for the covers, you would thing they would have them for sale.
I almost fell for the trick and got a smart keyboard just to have a bottom cover for $159 because they were in stock at the store. Well played Apple, well played.

Have no need for a keyboard. Do not work well in lap or out in the field. Have got so used to the On screen keyboard.

Apple will refund you money on the keyboard.
I don't need a keyboard, either. But damn, it was the only bottom cover accessory available at the Store and they almost got me. Almost! I tried the keyboard and honestly it wasn't tooooo bad, but I like more spring like the wireless Apple keyboards. Even the new MacBook Pro keyboards are a little to 'stale'.

As always, Apple employees today didn't have a good handle on when the case would be available.

I have my doubts that Apple will ever produce a bottom cover.

Can you tell me which back cover are you using for your 10.5" iPP ?

I am using this case for now: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0718X3GJ5/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Fits well but the bottom is hard and slippery.

Tonight I will remove this and put this back on my 10.5: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0719P6XNB/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I can then use my Apple front cover. Will stick with this until I find better.

Would really like to see the Apple back cover introduced.

I want to use the Apple leather Smart Cover for the front and any third party back cov just for the back. So would this fit on the back ? Any other suggestions ?

Hoping but Apple usually has these accessories ready even before the device. Hope they had a problem and it is a little late but it could very well be there is no Apple back cover, only a front cover.

That's not what "OCD" means.

Regardless, what you're saying is that Apple exchanged your faulty one without question, but the biggest "problem" you have now is that you *think* the speakers *might* sound more muffled and there's a slight scratch on one chamfered edge?

At this point, for the OP, I'd open it at the :apple: Store, and make sure the next one was good (to my satisfaction) before leaving.

I had a similar problem when renting a car. It was all dinged up, and when they gave me a replacement, there were less dings, but some nonetheless. Did a video recording of the car before getting in, just in case there were issues at drop off. I know this is different (I'm returning a rental car, not the iPad), but having the Avis person also record these eased my mind.

Odd because every time I've rented a car with Enterprise, they walk the car with you noting every dent, ding, etc.

At first I thought it was just me, every time I go into an Apple Store I feel like I know and then majority of its customers more than the Apple reps. I’m not taking only the guy on the accessory wall, but even higher ups in the store. They had no clue Apple made a leather Smart Cover for their new iPad Pro... there are many more things but that’s recent memory.

had the same with my 10.5" when i turned it on. will check at home if it occurs with every turn on or if it was a one time experience. flickering was noticeable with thin white lines just under apple logo but only for a second or so...

otherwise screen is perfect without bleeding etc.
