I guess a lot of people are contemplating this, since people like me who previously owned the first gen 12“, then went to the 10.5 because it was more portable, but were hoping for the 12“ in a smaller footprint got what we asked for - now that it‘s here, I‘m having 2nd thoughts...
How are you deciding?
I guess the new devices wont be in the stores to physically examine before the 7th, right?

This was my path. I bought the first big one and then moved to the smaller. I'm back on the big one for this generation.

No, I ordered the 11”. However, I may go check out the larger one and exchange it, if I decide I can live with the size. I doubt I will switch though. The 10.5” fits easily in all my purses and bags.

After seeing the size of the 12.9" in the Photoshop demo, I decided to stick to the 11".

I’m going from the 12.9 to the 11. I don’t like lugging the 12.9 around the office. It’s a bit bulky and I want something more compact when I’m out and about. I also don’t like the new prices, the Pencil is now $30 more, the keyboard is now $40 more, the iPad itself is now $100 more for the base WiFi model.

No. Ordered the 11". I tried the 12 when it first came out, but it was just too big for my 5’ body to hold comfortably.

12.9 for me. I too had the original 12.9 but scaled down to the 10.5 for more portability and ease of use. Not fussed for the price increases (as, I suspect, are many) but the iPad is my number one go to device and so my wife has already said that that’s my Christmas present sorted. Space Grey WiFi 256Gb here I come :D

No.

Will be holding onto my 10.5 for years to come.

I bought mine with 512 GB / LTE for 700 Euros, there's no way I'm going to pay another 400 for what I perceive as a sidegrade.

Obviously the new ones are nicer, but they don't have touch ID (and I'm paranoid about face ID) and don't have a smart cover option. I'm also not convinced that having zero bezels is good design for a device you hold like that.

On the other hand, these things look straight out of a futuristic render. They're so sleek, the iPhone 5-esque edges really appeal to me, and the A12x performance is sure to be mouth-watering.

Yep. I like my bezels, I like my touch ID, I like my 3.5mm port and I bought the 256GB model to last me a long time. I got 6 years out of my iPad 2, so aiming for at least the same out of this Pro.

Wait, the new one doesn't have a 3.5 mm jack?

That would be an absolute deal-breaker.

One of my most frequent uses is winding down watching some videos in bed, so decided to order the 12.9. The screen size was one of the major reasons I'm even contemplating updating from my 10.5. I really like the 10.5 but portability isn't a major concern for me so the larger screen is tempting.

so the weight reduction is only from 1.5 pounds to 1.4. some volume reduction but if you didn't like the weight before you still won't like it.

No. I have a 256GB 10.5" LTE with pencil, ASK, and multiple other covers/cases/chargers/cables - for the $, I can't see upgrading all of this. Just not worth it.

Edit - And I forgot to mention the Lightning card reader and HDMI adapter that I'd also have to replace.
