I’m in shock at the amount of people in here trading their 12.9” in. I wonder if it’s because all the people with 12.9” are not writing and are just living happily along LOL.

Personally, I don’t have either right now. My 12.9” ships in 3 weeks or so. But I have a 9.7” iPad Pro and I am looking forward to the increase in size. I went to the store. I do have large fingers. I was able to thumb type on it. And it didn’t feel noticeably heavier than the 11”.

I just find it incredibly interesting how many people are returning.

I'm not sure if this forum is really a representative sample. I am one who returned for the 11 inch, but I'm sure there are people who are going in the other direction and plenty of people who are thrilled with the larger screen size. I also noticed that the stores by me seemed to be out of stock on more of the 12.9 configurations than the 11 inch. I'm not sure if it is because the 12.9 is more popular or because they simply had fewer of the 12.9 iPads to begin with.

I was just mentioning about this to someone just sometime back...look at the number of people who first jumped on to the 12.9" out of euphoria and excitement and look now, how everyone is getting a reality check and almost everyone who first got the 12.9" is going to exchange it for the 11" !! lol !!

Wouldn’t go that far

I think many are happy with their 12.9. I love mine but need my keyboard to make the most of it as it is a handful on its own with no case

I started with the 11" coming from the 10.5, liked it a lot.

Reading this forum made me think I'm missing out on the new 12.9" so I picked that up and used them side by side.

After identifying the pro's and con's of each and I decided my typical use (90%) use can benefit from the 12.9 more than it's size and bulk hinders so I returned the 11".

I've now been using the 12.9 for 2 full days.
Love the screen size for gaming, ease of reading due to larger fonts and depending on the app, like Discord I'm able to see a lot more text before needing to scroll.

As Melman101 proposed (I wonder if it’s because all the people with 12.9” are not writing and are just living happily), I stopped posting because I'm happy with my switch, however I didn't stop reading the forums and now everyone posting how they switched back to 11" is making me think if I had the 11 I'd take it out of the house a lot more often and use it on the go so I'm being tempted to switch back.

Perhaps this thread is a social experiment on how many times they can make us flip flop between the two sizes.

I have been taking my 12.9 out in a sling bag all over and it’s been no problem. Super light and portable. To those who bought or switched to an 11’: in what way is it more portable for transport about town? Don’t you need a bag anyway? Or do you just hold it?

Now that I look back I definitely should have given the 12.9 a test drive at the Apple store before I made a decision. During the Keynote when I saw how much the size had been reduced I got caught up in the moment. I was sure it would be fine for me.

Everyone is getting a reality check? Really, everyone? Where are you getting your data from? People who post here don’t represent everyone.

Cool it Man !! This is just a number game !! I am just going by what everyone is posting here which is growing more and more every second as we speak !! And looking at the poll results !

The 12.9 just isn’t big enough for me, so I took it back and bought two 11s. I have taped them together for the ultimate 22” iPad Pro. When I need portability, I just un-tape the two 11s and throw them in my bag. Best of both worlds!

;)

I am extremely happy with my iPad Pro 12.9 LTE 256gb.

I am now thinking of getting the 11” model for my wife and daughter. It will replace their iPad Pro 9.7

Well after having the original 12.9 Gen 1 which I didn't get on with, I've loved 10.5 that I swapped it for and have been using it ever since launch and was looking forward to the update.

After originally buying the 11, I was a little underwhelmed so I decided to also get the 12.9 and have a real world test for a 5 days.

I can see the appeal of both but for me the 12.9 came out of top for my needs. Spreadsheets (which I use a lot) and magazines both look great on it and to me the size is portable and really not that much difference in weight either.

For me I use MY IPad Pro at work and use Ms Work and Excel a lot. I need to use the keyboard with it and typing with the 12.9 model is so much better.

12.9” model is also so much better for web browsing and watching movies.

For me 11” iPad looks small. May be because I already have the iPhone XS Max for carrying around.

Very very satisfied with my 12.9. It’s portable, the big screen is awesome and I’m getting full split screen.

I ordered a 12.9” straight away but gave the 11” a good try at the Apple store.
To me, the 11” felt a little underwhelming, not as premium as its big brother. Fun to use for some media-consumption but not enough to do some serious work on. Besides, to me a iPad pro of approximately $1500 is way too expensive and total overkill for just media-consumption, I’d just get a regular iPad instead.

Portability is the same for me, I’m going to use a sleeve/bag with either size anyway. And 200gr extra isn’t going t make a difference either.

I’m coming from a 10.5” iPad Pro ordered the 12.9”. If the 12.9 is too heavy I’ll just return and stay with the 10.5. Just not enough difference to pay the price for an 11”.

Couldn't get over the 12.9 not utilizing the extra real estate. All they did was magnify the applications instead of adding more columns/rows. Reminded me of taking a photo and stretching it out and seeing the quality change.

The 11" is the perfect balance of portability and productivity.

The 11” has a resolution of 2388 x 1668 and the 12.9 is 2732 x 2048, and both are 264 pixels per inch.

I always have trouble with these decisions but when I went into the store I instantly gravitated to the 12.9 it’s really perfect for me. I had picked up the original 12.9 but it was a bit too big but this seems like they got it exactly right. Even using this one handed feels fine to me which I couldn’t say for the original. It really has that wow factor for me and feels like they really got it right this time around. The 11 is more portable but I don’t have any problems bringing this with me on a trip and I’d like to use this to go through and edit photos on the road so I still appreciate the screen while traveling so I think this is a great size for my usage.

Love the 12.9” iPad Pro. But I have since the gen 1 version. Easy to hold one handed, use while standing up and walking about onsite. It is great for my usage.

But as I posted earlier in this thread, it all comes down to figuring out what works for you.
