Yeah, ...Angry Birds of course. I get bored with it so i deleted it. Never tried Temple run though i know it is popular.

As far as games go, my current favorite is Blitz Brigade. In my opinion its the best FPS on mobile devices. It's got a clean, cartoony look to it and is all multiplayer.

Another great one is Asphalt 8...

Here is another simple reason -

Superior notification system

If you check my other thread about fav apps, you would know I have a new fav app called DynamicNotifications.

Moto X's Active Display showed us the right way on how notifications done right. Its imitations and alternatives can do it better. Makes iOS7 look old after less than year with its major refresh. I have no envy with Moto X's owners anymore. Download DynamicNotifications and it could be another simple reason you may dump your iPhone. Android's notifications becomes better.

OK Glance is no good actually

SlideLock is an alternative lock screen and you can pick what app that shows notifications. I hated Glance and their battery saver app (I actually had better battery w/o it).

IMO Glance and Nils were battery drainers. I just dont feel i need LS notifications if it does that. They arent that big a deal to me.

Im interested in what games you guys plays. There are so many i dont know whats good.

I have Candy Crush just to put that out there and tried a new one called Hay Day that i saw a commercial for on TV.....BORING! And ive played the Family Guy game but im looking for something better.

Just looking for a few suggestions.

Smash Hit is wonderful, so is Sprinkle Islands.

3. Game selection on android is vastly better and now they actually run as well as the iOS iterations. Again, I am only referring the Samsung Galaxy S5.

No, just no. The game selection is definitely not vastly better or even as good.

To the OP: Now that iOS 8 has been announced, is there anything you see that would make you considering switching to iOS?

Yup, I'm wondering the same - seems like....

1. Kitkat. Android performance and stability got a massive bump with Kitkat. Especially with the ART runtime, while the iPhone took a step backwards in terms of stability with iOS7. iOS 8b1 seems extremely stable - betting another year on the iOS 7 base brings iOS back to the level of stability we're used to.

3. Game selection on android is vastly better and now they actually run as well as the iOS iterations. Again, I am only referring the Samsung Galaxy S5. Wonder how the dev tools like Metal are going to affect this. I think I've seen it said there isn't an app out there that comes anywhere close to using the A7 to its full potential. If devs are able to create powerful games on iOS using iOS specific tools what would that mean for Android iterations?

5. The S5 screen blows the iPhone screen out the water. AMOLED has come a long way since even last year. It's vivid, bright, with surreal contrast. And it's incredibly immersive because of the size. I'm sorry but the disparity between screen sizes just got too big. I like my big screen and won't consider any small screen iPhones ever again. Will be interesting to see what the larger displays look like. While I've read the GS5 display is both larger and technically better than the 5S, I'm sure Apple won't slouch with the larger display - they never have in the past.

6. The android ecosystem has gotten very good in terms of support from device makers. Still not iOS level but close enough to where it doesn't matter. Everything I need support for is present. What do the Continuity and Home Kit features do for you here?

7. Android apps play nicer together. For example, you hit the share button in an app and 15 apps pop up where you can instantly populate information. Inter-app communication is vastly ahead of where iOS is. What does the Extensions API do here?

8. Easy storage upgrades. With Dropbox and an SD card I've got an extra 45gb of storage. Real storage so I can literally dump anything into dropbox, or get a new SD card for even more memory. iOS dropbox support is very limited in comparison and internal memory cost on the iPhone is freaking ridiculous expense. Because Dropbox acts as a filesystem, it is more versatile on android as well. Wonder what iCloud drive will do here?

9. Widgets. for example: I've got a Beats, Google Music, Pandora, and stock Music widget all on the home screen. I can switch tracks and apps for music without ever opening a single app. Google Now tells me all kinds of relevant things at a glance. My twitter feed is always up and I can scroll through it. Again, all without ever opening an app to switching between them. It's always up for me to see and use. Try it for a month then go back to iOS's double tap to multitask, and tell me it's better. Apple is implementing widgets in a very different way, but combine them in the Notification Center with a super charged Spotlight search and you could be looking at a pretty awesome combo. Wife and I tested it out - searched for an app in spotlight that wasn't on the iPad, tapped it, downloaded it and then looked in the multitasking tray - the App Store wasn't open. Things like movie times, sports scores, song recognition etc can now be done via Siri/Notification center/Spotlight search.

11. 2 apps at once. Yesterday I was watching Game of Thrones and playing on Macrumors at the same time. Yeah, it's awesome and works great. Why the hell isn't Apple doing this? Maybe then I wouldn't have to live through constant reloading apps in iOS. Were you at home? I assume you were on the go - while I think on an iPad/tablet this might be useful, I don't even split screen apps on my Macs all that often. Just don't see how a half experience is all that great (half a display per app) - I guess its better than nothing. Still not convinced its not coming either - the delay seems plausible and we could see it as the key 8.1 feature.

Looking forward to Tech's thoughts.

Who needs me? You covered it all just fine. ;)

In seriousness, Apple has pretty well counter punched with a haymaker in terms of functionality, and addressed some of the reasons I got an S5.

What I do next will really depend on the hardware in iPhone 6, and how the new features feel to me in real world use. I can see extensions being really awesome, but I'm still not sold on the widgets integration. Not writing it off, but it doesn't look as strong as android, and certainly far behind Windows Phone.

About split screen on the S5. It's a very good feature that Apple really needs to consider for iOS devices. "Half the experience" is bit inaccurate. You're just have access to two things at once. It comes in more handy than you think, even on a phone.

Oh but I'm not the one with a GS5 :D

We'd all much rather have your take than an ole Apple fanboy's like mine. Haha - I'm just skeptical that cutting even a 5" or 5.5" display in half really provides a good experience. I don't even like watching video on my 4" iPhone let along an effectively 2.5" - 3" area.

iPad? That's different - I could see some usefulness there. In fact, I think it would be wise to bring it to the Air and Pro (if it exists) only and NOT the rMini (even though the rMini is my baby and go-to). More value for the larger more expensive guys.

Perhaps to the 5.5" iPhone as well, though you'd be hard pressed not to put it on the rMini at that point.

Anyhow, really looking forward to the fall! Going to be exciting (and expensive) haha....

Fully agree. looking at buying an iPhone 6.

I won't be going back to iPhone until the screen is at least 4.5". Everything seems to be pointing at that, but who knows?

I like my Nexus, but I miss the iOS environment on the iPhone.

My take:

iOS 8 is a game changer for Apple users, and even S5 owners/converts like me.

File system-cloud storage (SD is still better, but this is a good move)
Keyboard Options
Widgets (sorta)
Ecosystem
More powerful notifications
Inter-app communication and sharing

Talk about stealing androids thunder.

I'm halfway back in the Apple camp, but I need to see something compelling on the hardware.

A 5.5" HD display. I would prefer AMOLED, but that's not going to happen so I'll tolerate an IPS LCD as long as there isn't any funky light bleed and gray blacks everywhere.

2 gigs of RAM because if Safari reloads on me when multitasking and I lose information I might throw my iPhone against the wall. I freaking hate the constant reloads if I navigate away for 2 seconds. This is not multitasking as far as I am concerned.

Battery life on par with S5 or even Note3.

Pretty simple.

I think you'll see all of these hardware wants. Apple's IPS LCDs (I know they're made by other suppliers, but humor me) have always been top of the line. It's only now with the GS5 AMOLED that the iPhone has been surpassed as far as display quality goes.

I think the larger screens will be gorgeous.

Based on the last 4 releases, I think 2GB RAM is a given.

Battery life will be similar to what it is now I'd guess. A day for medium users, power users will complain and most others will think its fine. I'm excited to see finer data on what's draining my battery though.

I think Apple is in for a monstrous holiday quarter.

Stealing their thunder? All they did was steal their ideas. No matter, Android will continue to update thru the year while Apple has another year to wait for what they didnt get this time. Its all good for everyone but i dont see it as stealing anyones thunder. Android will continue to trudge ahead and further seperate themselves from iOS.

The Nexus 5 and G2 and G3 are no slouch. They have great screens too.

these changes for ios are great, but for people that want freedom, waiting for a jailbreak still sucks. And playing the I cant update if I want to keep my freedom still sucks.

if you buy an android device with an unlockable bootloader you can always be on the latest release with complete control over the device

Who had larger screens first......who is copying the "look and feel" of Android?

The LG G3 and Moto x +1, Android Silver line.....Note 4 just to name a few. Once again Android leads the way......sets the standard for other OSes to follow....
IOS adding MINOR customizations.....now you can change the keyboard! Android has had that for years......

You mean developers' ideas right? Because Android/Google didn't come up with the features Apple implemented.....Apple didn't either....

I did quite like the Nexus 5 - display was very nice though I still felt the HTC One was the best last year (of the Android phones I used).

Have heard amazing things about the G2 and G3 displays. Only reason I specifically mentioned the GS5 was because of a report that came out hailing the GS5 display as the best in the industry. I don't know if the G3 was out at the time.

That being said - good thing Samsung and LG make the displays for the iPhone! :p;)

Many of those features are Googles features, but not all. The only developer feature Apple got was Swiftkey and whoever else is making 3rd party keyboards for their app store.

I still enjoy using my Nexus 4 mainly because of the swipe keyboard. I can write something in half the I can on the iPhone. Now that keyboards will be able to be installed on 8.0, I will have nothing to keep me on Android. After using the Nexus 4/7 for 1.5 years, I have only started using swipe over the last month and love it although I quit using the 7 all together, nothing beats my iPad in my opinion.

I still hate the way the developers have made the apps I use and I completely gave up using my Nexus 7 due to developers refusing to make tablet versions. I have so many apps that are superbly done on iOS in the form of iPad versions.

Like what? Google didn't invent quick reply, predictive type, continuity features, widgets, etc....

I don't want to get into this on this thread as well - you know where I stand. If you want to rebut, we've already destroyed the "Sooooo iOS 8" thread....

Again, "copying" doesn't have to mean from the original source.

cop·y

a thing made to be similar or identical to another.

verb
1.
make a similar or identical version of; reproduce.

2.
imitate the style or behaviour of.

So, yes, Apple is copying Google as Google is copying Apple, regardless of who was the originator. And thankfully so.
