I agree. Touchwiz is horrible and I'll stick with iOS over it. But if I were to go with android moto x and nexus lines look ideal.

The moto x is doesn't mess with the os with its own useless features. When I look at the note 3 and s5 menus it looks like a horrible mess.

Samsung should follow suit from Motorola by accentuating features in the same way moto does with the always listening chip.
The third time Samsung reinstalled apps that I had turned off I was done. Fingerprint sensor got worse as time went on. Screen was nice, The bookmarks on Chrome with the last update looked very nice. No more folder icons, still look 2010 on IOS chrome.

Lol. It's bloat to the majority of the people.

Samsung sells hundred of millions phones with Touchwiz (many more than iphone) and certainly more than any other Android manufacturers. Maybe your so-called "bloat" is what attracted buyers and helped Samsung dethroned Apple and making apple desperate to the point of needing to sue, copy and steal to play catch up.

Yet they sell more phones than anyone else? So people must like it……
that must be a small majority…..

You do realise how many phones they sell right? Plus their advertising...

Ok humour me with this, if HTC spent as much as Samsung advertising, who do you think would win out?

When they do we will find out…….Oh and BTW….Apple has the resources to out spend everyone on advertising…
But if HTC spent 500 mil on advertising…..the camera would till suck….
But it is still a great phone…..

Currently have an iPhone 4, which I've had for 3 years, and I'm happy with it. I had it jailbroke and also ran ios 7 betas on it. It's now running 7.1.1.
I have recently got hold of a Galaxy S3 and I have had it rooted and a custom Rom installed, and now I will have a play with it. :)

I came the opposite way. I've had my iPhone 5 for nearly 2 years and came from a Samsung S3. It was a good phone but buggy. I didn't root it though as I didn't think I should have had to, but it would probably have solved all its issues.

In my opinion "bloat ware" is just an excuse for those people that want others to think they know what they are talking about say something. For me, this so called bloat has made no difference to my phone, if I don't want the app (bloat) I just disable it. Honestly, it's a non issue.

So here's the question, if I have an iPhone and I don't want the stocks app for instance, is that classed as bloatware? I can't disable it or even hide it from my screen. Just a question so I can understand "bloat ware".

Those that wear rose colored iGlasses will say no, it isn't. But in my eyes it is. I hate having to stick all these apps into a folder and then have that folder stick out like a sore thumb simply because Apple won't let a user hide apps (or not be forced to use a grid of rowed icons. It's ridiculous how dated the iPhone UI still looks because of this.)

One thing I want to do is get rid of this bloatware, or be able to at least get rid of the icons from showing. Doesn't matter how the defenders of all things Apple try to justify things, this is bloatware.

11 simple reasons why I gave Android another chance and dumped my iPhone.

I like both android and apple. But even hardcore android fans prefer the nexus line over Samsung handsets.

Too much crap on them that no one uses or cares about. And touchwiz is horrific.

Ive never seen iphone advertising yet they sell like hot cakes, ive seen plenty of HTC ads on soccer matches.

I've never seen adverts for Toyota Corolla's, yet they've been selling like hotcakes for 3 decades. Brand recognition and a loyal customer base is not something built overnight, nor is it easy to achieve in a saturated market. Only one company sells an iPhone, and everyone in the world is familiar with their products. HTC is a small company by comparison. Very small. And they don't produce a plethora of products like Apple. Just because people are ignorant of the HTC brand doesn't indicate a lack of caring. The M8 is an amazing phone and better in many way than an iPhone.

Your statement doesn't give HTC the credit they deserve for making a great phone on a shoestring budget compared to Apple.

Like you mention it's not something built overnight but HTC it's not new in the game and there was a time they dominated the android market.

I like Touchwiz. It's part of the Galaxy experience and it swims quite smooth when debloated and on ART.

I've never had a performance related issue with the S5, which is all I had with the S4.

I like some Touchwiz features and do use a few. I had an HTC phone before and do miss some things I really liked on Sense.

Regarding bloat, I generally don't have an issue with them, but I just find it annoying when I keep getting notifications to update them.

I personally agree with this, but many like Touchwiz.

And I'll take my Moto X over both my Nexus 4 and 5, both of which are collecting dust. :D

The moto x looks like a terrific device. Motorola added the always listening feature which is actually a extremely useful feature that apple and Samsung can both learn from.

Id like to have the space back that the bloat takes up but yes, disabling it works to turn them off.

Google is going to add the always listening feature to more phones. I read it was all Android phones but i dont think that can happen. Id guess probably more recent ones.

Also i have a Nexus 5 and there are things i miss from my GS3 like split screen, better volume, the calender blows pure Androids away.

How is it not relevant? Samsung makes ****** phones that sells. It upsets me since there are WAY better phones like the G3 or M8 or Sony Z2.

I respond the he second part first--absolutely Apple is guilty of including bloatware on their devices, though I'd argue that it's generally a bit less intrusive. On all of my iDevices I have a folder of included apps that I never touch set on a back page out of the way.

The bloatware that I generally find more problematic is that included by carriers on carrier branded devices. I believe this is a bigger issue here in the US. I haven't used a carrier branded phone is while because of this issue, and seem to recall there were instances where I was unable to disable some apps (but don't quote me on that ;)). My Sony Xperia Z1 Compact has quite of Sony placed bloatware that even after disabling seems to on occasion rear its head.

My personal issues with 'bloat' per se have more to do with a bloated OS or skin (hint hint) that has so much imbedded functionality/feature, much of which I personally find little value in, that it bogs down the entire user experience. ;)
