Ok, thanks! That helps a lot!

Just recently getting this error message when I try to stream youtube content.
Does this happen if you use the ‘Download Latest YouTube-dl’ feature and try again?
Over that last two years, I essentially used my powerbook as a terminal to my linux box. Your PPCMC app and your release of Links2 have made my powerbook into a stand alone system again. Thank you!
Hello alex_free,
I just wanted to say thank you for the phenomenal application, it has really improved the practicality of my older Macs. I've tested it so far on my iMac G5 Late 2005 and on my 2005 PowerBooks G4 (12", 15" Low-Res, 15" Hi-Res). It works like a charm on all of these. Your application made watching YouTube on these older machines a piece of cake again and for that I'm very thankful.
I do have some questions. Do you think PPCMC could be compiled for later OS X versions as well (Intel ones that lack Rosetta)? For example I have a Late 2006 iMac (top notch model with a 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo) running unsupported Mavericks. It struggles with playing 720p videos flawlessly and I think with your application (esentially downloading the video and playing it through QuickTime or VLC) it could easily handle HD playback. BTW Is there a way to play/stream the a video in VLC rather than Quicktime (I think VLC could improve playback from my experience in the past but I could be wrong). Thanks again for the great contribution and keeping our old PowerPCMacs usable!

Your iMac has more than enough grunt to play 720P - have you tried all the other ways - YewTube from @wicknix plays 720P no problem?
I could test as well today. I have a 10.11 machine as my daily driver and I don't belive I have much this afternoon that will take me away from my computersI could make a 64 bit Intel release that works from 10.5 to the latest Mac OS, but you’d have to test it as I don’t own an Intel Mac!
As for VLC, I really need to look into it. An update for PPCMC is coming soon, will you be able to test the Intel build later today?
As for the app, I think it’s great all us power pc users are on the same page, thanks for trying it out.

No worries at all! I played some more with the various people who were on. There were four other people! I think I'm getting better xDGreat! Sorry about missing the Quake 3 match yesterday, just saw your message I got caught up with some things.

Me and the original developer of PPCMC chat on the garden sometimes, and he recently told me PPCMC works flawlessly while some other Linux/Windows solutions had problems downloading a certain video.
I think that's the oddity with Youtube and API changes - alas, PPCMC is not immune either - it was having the same problem yesterday as with something I was working on:

Strange, the video couldn’t be downloaded in any way? This was with the latest YouTube-dl I assume.

I haven't tried any other options besides playing the video directly within the browser.
What about other browsers? I have 8 on Snow Leopard - there'll be even more on Mavericks.
True, I'll try it in Safari but it is kind of outdated (from 2016, I think). I could also try Elmedia Player (a video player that can handle Youtube-URLs). Nevertheless, alex_free's application would be great for older OS X since it is free and open source Also the youtube-dl plugin can be updated easily (I hope youtube-dl will be around for many years to come)
Yeah, I was surprised too. I don't know for sure. I asked everyone what systems they were using, but no one responded.I can’t believe other people are on now. They have to all be PPC users as I believe the OS 9 version is outdated and won’t connect to newer servers? Not 100% on that but how interesting.

Care to share your list of 8 browsers for SL? I have four.
