ok, so the lost ipad showed up today lol. So, I'm on chat support with best buy and apple to figure out what to do with it. It's activation locked because it's reported as lost. /shrugs. working on what to do with it.
[doublepost=1501275280][/doublepost]ok, got of the chat with apple, and phone with best buy lol. The item no longer exists in best buy world, and of course apple won't do anything with it without the original purchase receipt when it was purchased new; not my second hand receipt from best buy. I'm not out any money, they refunded all the money already.

So... it's basically a paper weight for now. I'm going to try and explore any other options to try and get the original receipt. Best Buy doesn't want me to bring it to them.

Maybe I'm confused but sounds like

1. Your order got temporarily lost by UPS so BB sent you a replacement.
2. Original order suddenly shows at your front door
3. You made a bona fide attempt to get it back to BB but it's iPad non grata to them

If that is the case stuff it in a drawer for a few month just in case. If it remains crickets you have a free extra charger and cable. Take the iPad to Apple for recycling.

Pretty much that's how it is. The "replacement" was just another order created and I did in-store pickup. I'm going to take it to the Apple store either tomorrow or Monday and see what they can do in person, instead of over the phone.

Apple was willing to unlock the activation lock, but it turns out, it was placed in Lost Mode. They said they can not remove that. So, I'm at square one, figuring out my options to try and track down the previous owner.

I'm going to file a police report as to having an item that was reported lost or stolen. Give them the serial number, and run a nationwide check through the NCIC to see if it was reported lost or stolen. We'll see where it goes from there.

Picked up the Gold model for my girlfriend during the special. While it's a bit dated spec wise, it's more than capable for a light user like her. To my surprise, I actually like it a lot more than my Air2, as the size is much better. Also got her the Midnight Blue smart cover, and it's a great little machine.

Love my 128GB Mini 4. Not the fastest tablet, but for my needs, it works great. Nice screen. Tons of memory. Perfect size to tote around. But I hope IOS 11 doesn't bog it down when it goes mainstream. Not that I have to upgrade--but I will!

It shows it back at $399 at bestbuy.com. :(

There's always Labor Day and pre-Black Friday sales. I think we'll see $279 iPads again this year, probably soon. I can't imagine they sell too well at regular price.
