Wife and I don't like screen protectors - it worked all the time for us with 13 and 13 PM, 12PM, SE, 8 plus. The only time it didn't work when my kids scratched my se2 with keys while playing.
Long story short - wife's 14PM literally caught a deep scratch out of nowhere on day 7 - we were shooting fall fair and it was clean, 5 min later while in the car it was already deep scratched. Probably it is better to use protectors on these or at least be careful since smth changed with the glass.

People think that the glass on their phones is scratchproof. They think that all these different updates to 'Gorilla Glass' and whatnot will have made them indestructible by now but sadly not.

The glass is made to be shatterproof, not scratchproof. These glass displays are no more scratch-resistant than they were 10 years ago.

Not one micro scratch on my 350-day iPhone 13 pro max when I sold it for $900 on FB marketplace.

Never used screen protector. Used apple leather case. Never put the phone face down. Only put it in an empty pocket with no sand or other abrasives. Wiped down the screen every couple days using a semi damp napkin with water only. And a micro fiber cloth to dry it.

You were careless. Take care of your stuff.

You not using a screen protector is careless. You were lucky. You don’t possess some kind of anti-scratching skillset that others don’t have.

Your method of looking after your phone is rather unusual though. My phone is a tool and I don’t want to be worrying about wiping it down and checking pockets for sand or covering rivets on jeans etc. I just buy a 10 quid screen protector and I don’t have to go through bizarre rituals. For the sake of 10 quid, what is the point in the risk? What’s the advantage of not having a screen protector? The mind boggles.

iPhone screens became very scratch prone since the 11. Much worse than the 10 and before. I don't care for screen protectors but used one on my 12 Pro and now 14 Pro.

I was going to say something similar. I believe I read that the "Ceramic Shield" introduced with the 12 is easier to scratch. It's focused more on preventing shatters when dropped.

Something may have gotten on contact to make that scratch happen. Lucky for me, I stopped using screen protectors since iphone 11 and went without it for the 12 and 13 and now 14. Of all those I have owned, not a single scratch or any micro scratches can be seen. To each their own I guess. I don't necessarily need a screen protector on mine. I really like the naken feel of the screen oppose to the glass on the screen protector.

I wonder why Apple stopped offering those $20 matte belkin screen films as opposed to $40 glass ones? Matte was really cool looking, light and even easier to slide your finger on the screen vs bare.

Haven't used a screen protector since 11 PM. Since joining IUP. The 13PM I just traded in had nothing on the screen. Took the boat out this past Saturday (drinking/sand bar) No scratches what so ever. Cased yes but never a screen protector.
