I’ve been using my pro phones without a case since the xs max, would never use a case again (Applecare)
OK? 🤷🏻♀️I was talking about your comment about the lens coverings…
A long time ago, I think around iPhone 10? I had gotten a bumper but then ended up dropping a beer bottle on top of the iPhone. There went the screen. The irony is not lost on me posting earlier this week and now tonight I dropped my iPhone 8-plus and it landed on my concrete walkway an shattered the lower front screen.
Case didn’t save it this time![]()
What kind of case did you have? I’m assuming you didn’t have a screen protector. The irony is not lost on me posting earlier this week and now tonight I dropped my iPhone 8-plus and it landed on my concrete walkway an shattered the lower front screen.

No screen protector - I had a Tendlin case. But the phone did have a minute chip on the edge of the front from a drop long ago. I suspect this latest drop only made it worse. What kind of case did you have? I’m assuming you didn’t have a screen protector.
Was the phone that got scratched a regular or pro model? The stainless steel sides on the pro models seem pretty resilient.Always had a case and screen protector on it. Took it off before the new iPhone 14 arrived and bingo, I got a very very small scratch on it. Now my resale value has just gone down a bit. I’ll never do that again. Keep it on from day one until I transfer it to a new phone.
Sorry to see this — how did it happen? So do you normally use a case and/or screen protector?
Do you have an opinion of the cases that now have built in camera protection around the lenses? These are silicone cases, and they don’t cover the lenses. The flash and LiDAR modules + mic are recessed a little, so I don’t know if that has an effect.I will tell you that anything that says it protects your camera is *********. They will affect the camera, especially if you use a flash on occasion. If you are going to go naked, do not stick some stupid plastic thing over the camera.
I get what you’re saying. I have been a fan of clear cases, but might jump to leather or silicone. I wish Apple made a very light gray leather case (or even silicone). Alto makes a gray leather case, but it isn’t MagSafe.I switched to the leather case. As much as I like the clear case the edges of the screen look so cheap with the plastic. I’ll likely keep that for situations where a case is good to have, I’ll use the leather for a few weeks and then go caseless.
Like always.
Do you have AC+?Totally naked. I haven’t worn a case since my 11PM. So far, knock wood, no drops or other grievous injuries. I don’t think I will ever wear a case again.
I’m still debating. I will try out a few cases, but may end up going naked along with monthly AC+.Finally got my hands on the 14 Pro. First iPhone out of the last 10 that I got AppleCare on to use without a case. It was always a want of mine and can finally justify the cost associated with AppleCare.
Feels great!
I take care of my phones a lot and have always wanted to go with a naked phone because they look so nice. I'm just afraid my cameras will scratch when I set it on tables and stuffTotally naked. Yes - of course. However, I always try to avoid anything to do with the process of replacing a new phone, or getting one repaired, unless absolutely necessaryDo you have AC+?
