Good. Mine was last reported in Korea so I don’t expect to get it tomorrow, unfortunately. I think this think will work well for me. I have an M1 Mini as my main machine and 2 years later I’ve never run into an issue. The 15 inch Air is essentially a supplement to it. If I ever want to do anything that‘s going to really push the Air I’ll just do it on the M1 Mini.

I can't believe it took them this long to finally make a 15 inch Macbook Air. It just makes sense

Best part it's at a really great price. It's cheaper than all the other 15 inch notebooks out there, and faster than them, and with 5x the battery life of them

The 15 inch Macbook Air is pretty much the final nail in the coffin for the Dell XPS lineup.
yeah , long awaited !!

i'm ok with the faster point, however there definitely are much cheaper 15 inch notebooks (and not low end, im talking about premium) with oled displays, and 16/512gb configs, so really MUCH cheaper

(and before you say "but 8gb on ARM is like 16gb ", it's not. i've been working with a 8gb mba,had to switch to 16gb .

especially since m2 has slower ssd which makes swap harder .

same for storage, it's MUCH faster on windows laptop, and storage is storage, if you have 512 it's better than 256)

also that 5* battery figure is completely wrong

where did you get all this crap information from

Nothing on the Windows side can dream of competing with the price, performance and battery life of these remarkable new MacBook Airs. Every review is glowing in its praise. Only Apple can do this.
You might actually want to watch some reviews of latest Intel and AMD-based computers vs M2 chip. It's closer than you think (and Intel actually surpassed M2 in some cases). Battery life? Not everyone sits on a plane for 18 hours away from an AC outlet. Batteries charge so quickly nowadays...plug in for even 30 minutes and you've got another half day of charge. Big deal. MBA is thin, has great computing power and last a long time, but they are not cheap.

Completely agree, I don’t understand why the reviewers are not calling Apple out on this. There is little excuse for the lack of dual external display support on these new models! Making this a “Pro” only feature is extremely frustrating. All this does is make the computer more apt to become e-waste rather than extending its longevity.

I'm digging for the reference, but I heard on a podcast recently (ATP, I think?) that the display controller chip on the Air can only physically handle one external (and one internal). I'll post back when I find it.

these guys are superficial, it's mostly promotion in disguise

as for his point, the fact that apple marketing calls it "pro performance device" means nothing, and they can add virtually any limitations they want to push you to PROS

i mean they call 120hz vrr pro-motion fwiw , haha

Yeah those reviews and reviewers are very very superficial
I understand that the slower SSD isn’t a good thing, but… Really?
Reviews of this machine are “ superficial” because they don’t mention a small tiny detail that almost no one cares about?
Anyone who knows anything about SSD speeds is more than likely either using an external, upgrading their storage to a bigger amount, so it doesn’t matter anyway, or buying the MacBook Pro.
It’s literally that simple.
Like… I'm not sure what people want, these slower SSD speeds have been used for a year now and, I still haven't seen one report of someone saying that in every day use it affects them. I’ve seen people blabber on about benchmarks, but I have never, not once, seen someone say that it’s honestly affecting their usage of their machine.
So I ask, what do people want?
Other than for these YouTube reviewers to just trash the machine for having one flaw, which… That’s not going to happen. It’s a great machine.
But I know this place thrives on negativity, so they want nothing but constant criticism.
Everyone wants everyone else to just copy Max tech, and their constant Clickbait negativity over small things.

I didn't base this statement upon this single fact obviously, it was just an opportunity -so to speak- to call them out , with some of them being more superficial than others

speaking of this very device , I can't tell you already since we have no other "real" reviews, but for one thing you have the double display people mentionned, which is apparently not spoken by any of these reviewers

as for the rest of your points, i'll asnwer later :)

The high-performance Intel stuff in laptops requires jet engine fans and they still throttle down within minutes - throttled to the point where it’s a waste of money buying the most expensive chips.

Ever since Jobs introduced the 2010 model ("what if an iPad and MacBook hooked-up"), the MBA has been my favorite computer. Of course, there have been changes over the last 13 years, but for me, it has always been the perfect combination of portability, price, and performance.

I can understand that some people might want the larger 15" screen, but it probably is not for me. I use my M2 base MBA as my do everything go everywhere computer.....writing this on my family room couch right now. If I need more screen real estate (rarely), I just hook into my 23in 1080p monitor, which only cost about $125. That said, I am sure there is a substantial market for the 15 in MBA because some people need/want additional screen space whilst on the go. It will be a great addition to the MacBook line-up.

Still don't love that they've crippled it by not allowing dual external displays.

Before you go saying "that's a Pro only feature, the Air is a lightweight non-Pro box", have a look at Apple's marketing page for the Air, literally marketing it with After Effects and "intense workloads".

The hardware is most certainly capable of it...although Vision Pro may make that point entirely moot early next year.
Yeah, I wish it could do dual monitors, also, but it’s Apple’s M.O. This is a classic Apple scheme to encourage consumers to upgrade to a higher end machine. Notice how the upgrade pricing is JUST ENOUGH to make you consider the upgrade. It’s never going to change with Apple and this kind of thing shouldn’t be surprising at this point.

If the 15" had 2 more USB C on the other size it might help sway people. Bonus if it had an SD Card slot.
Regardless, the MBA line is Apple's most popular laptop. The Pro line can't compete with the year-to-year overall sales of the Air line.

I wonder what percentage of MBA buyers primarily edit hours of 4K video on a day-to-day basis? I'm guessing most use it as their daily driver to check email, browse and run basic apps like Office, music, watch video, etc. Intel-based laptops don't throttle in those conditions.

Intel based Macbook Airs certaintly used to!
