It's cheaper than all the other 15 inch notebooks out there, and faster than them, and with 5x the battery life of them
with half the storage and RAM at that price... actually you have 15in laptops at half that price with double the RAM and storage... the 15" air has advantages, especially if you don't need to run Windows-only apps, but 5x the battery life is a huge exaggeration

I didn't base this statement upon this single fact obviously, it was just an opportunity -so to speak- to call them out , with some of them being more superficial than others

speaking of this very device , I can't tell you already since we have no other "real" reviews, but for one thing you have the double display people mentionned, which is apparently not spoken by any of these reviewers

as for the rest of your points, i'll asnwer later :)
Again, it’s not relevant because we already know. We know apples baseline chips don’t support two monitors, we don’t need to be reminded every single video.
And I ask again, what exactly do you want these YouTube reviewers to do? Do you want them to actually review the machine? Talk about the experiences they’ve had with it? Or do you just want them to put out a big list of flaws, most of which aren’t very relevant for the Target demographic?
Almost every review I’ve watched on this laptop all say the exact same thing, it’s a great consumer laptop. It’s a great laptop for people who don’t know a thing about SSD speeds or don’t have several monitors.
It’s great for teachers and students and parents and anyone who just wants a nice big laptop.
Pointing out the fact that it’s not a MacBook Pro is just redundant.
But if you want all the negativity, I’m sure that Max Tech has the next months worth of videos about the SSD lined up for you, so enjoy them.
I personally can’t wait for the video he uploads on Wednesday “⏰NEW MACBOOK AIR HAS A PROBLEM, DON’T BUY⏰.
It’s going to be totally different from the video he uploads Friday, “😟MACBOOK AIR SSD, APPLE NEEDS TO STOP! DON’T BUY😡”

All the reviews so far are the Apple equivalent of Christopher Guest in Spinal Tap saying “This goes to 11”. We’ll have to really wait awhile to get some real informative reviews.

It’s a larger M2 MBA, which has already been reviewed to death last year. I really don’t think there is anything new to talk about here. Same support for 1 external display, same pricey spec upgrades, M2 chip offers the same performance etc.

Actual battery life with different use cases

Thermal throttle (since it has more room and possibly a bigger heatsink)

But yeah again I wasn't referring to this very product, it was a global remark, same goes for the first M2 of the name

Nothing unexpected. Very nice package that is going to sell very well. I'll still tend to favor smaller devices (have 13" MBA, 14" MBP, iPhone 13mini) so probably not for me. But I got friends/family that are going to be very excited to have a larger option without having to go Pro.

I think they could have gone bigger and made a 16 inch MacBook Air with the same Mini-LED technology at the same price point. But I guess that will take them another 15 years.

Still don't love that they've crippled it by not allowing dual external displays.
They designed their chips in a way that the M1/M2 (non-pro) chips actually only have the hardware to drive a single output. There is no simple way to support more monitors unless they put the M2 Pro in the Air. And the Air is all about cost savings. It's an entry-level mobile consumer device, hooking up two external monitors is not the typical use case for them. It is essentially just luck that the M2 chip is so fast that prosumers and professionals can even consider it. Imagine the Air back in the Intel days, especially the last revision with the non-existent cooling despite having a fan, it was really too slow for any serious workflows. Do you think their users wanted to add more external displays? No, they wanted it not to overheat and throttle easily, that was the issue, and Apple solved that.

I believe the Ugreen 6 in 1 USB-C hub has all of these things for a good price.

Will have to find out from non-sponsored reviews if Apple used single or dual ssd modules for the base 256gb model.

Imagine, in 2023, Apple is still cheap enough to ship 8gb RAM as the base amount. What a joke.

I have the base 13” Air. Despite the “paltry” 8GB RAM and “slow” SSD, this machine is just as fast in real world use as my 14” M1 Pro. I’m sure the benchmarks tell a different story, but in actual use they are impossible to tell apart performance wise.

Ok perhaps the Air takes a couple seconds longer to export a video… but only a stop watch can tell. I mean if it bothers you, or if those precious seconds cost you money, then there’s a Pro machine for you.

Apple silicon is remarkable even in base spec. This is a near perfect laptop for everyone. Only the lack of dual external monitor support stops me from going it.

The MB pro 14 M2 costs €2059 in Europe on Amazon, the same as the MB Air M2 15" 16/512.
If you need more memory, just take the Pro model, the difference in weight is also only a negligible 120 grams.
But the Pro is considerably better featured!

I wonder what percentage of MBA buyers primarily edit hours of 4K video on a day-to-day basis? I'm guessing most use it as their daily driver to check email, browse and run basic apps like Office, music, watch video, etc. Intel-based laptops don't throttle in those conditions.

Yes but you were previously boasting about Intel beating Apple in performance at the high-end. I was responding to that part of your comment in regards to fans and throttling. Intel-based laptops noisy fans can still spin up during the tasks you mention but generally they won't throttle doing those basic tasks obviously.

I can't believe it took them this long to finally make a 15 inch Macbook Air. It just makes sense

Best part it's at a really great price. It's cheaper than all the other 15 inch notebooks out there, and faster than them, and with 5x the battery life of them

The 15 inch Macbook Air is pretty much the final nail in the coffin for the Dell XPS lineup.
What do you think this way? Competition is good thing.

That’s a MBP not an Air, the general consumer will not care about Mini-Led.

Please reread my initial comment. I never once said anything about high-end performance. YOUR reply to my comment said "high performance Intel", but I never once mentioned anything about that.

Before you go saying "that's a Pro only feature, the Air is a lightweight non-Pro box"

I don't get people who try to justify that. The fact that the previous Intel versions of these products (the Air, and the M1/M2 13" Pros) supported dual displays should be the end of the discussion.
