My perception is that my 15 pro (not PM) gets significantly hotter taking multiple pictures in a row on 17.1.1 than it did on 17.0.x. It’s hard to be precise with significant variations in ambient temperature, but the most noticeable was taking numerous macro shots in a (warm, humid) butterfly house. It didn’t give me any warnings but felt quite warm even through the Apple silicone case. I’m hoping that the next update improves things again. The phone has been cool and trouble-free otherwise. I would say there is a significant software component to these issues.

I have the 15PM and went out recording for 2 days and both days the display will dim quite quickly

OS: 17.1.1
Weather: Cloudy
Outdoor temperature: 30 degrees celcius or higher
Display brightness: Usually max even if it's cloudy
Battery life with above conditions: 4 hours
Display dimming: Happens quite quickly

Of course when display dims, it's difficult to check the exposure of videos you're recording.

I am extremely surprised overheating can happen on a cloudy day without direct sunlight as my 14PM usually takes way longer time to dim.

I had upgraded from 12PM because of overheating issues while recording videos outdoors. It seems like the problem is back with 15PM. Classic Apple giveth and Apple taketh away. With 16PM overheating will be solved and it will be called an upgrade.

Can confirm, it insanely drains the battery and gets hot. I know this is a really power consuming thing but coming from the 11 Pro I wouldn’t expect this. Next to this, it gets hot - really hot and this being said at 10°C (50°F) outdoor temperature. I’m afraid to see this next month on vacation at 40°C (104°F).

Overall I’m not that happy with the 15 Pro especially knowing that I bought it as my daily driver for the next 5 years…
For £1100 you should be very happy with it, and that's why I returned two 15 Pro's in quick succession. Unacceptable bugs at this price point.
