Yeah, that was the worst thing about this: all the deniers logging in to spew hatred and insults against people legitimately trying to troubleshoot what was wrong with their phone. Grown-up adults actually spending their time on this earth to call others “stupid” and “clowns”. It was just gross.Because the deniers have to shut up, threads become quiet and back to civil discussions of how to deal with the heat while waiting for the patch. Before this the debate was vivid.
Still heats up quickly for me on 17.1 taking 5 or 6 pictures. Can anyone with 17.1 take a few pics with the camera and see if it gets hot? I‘m on 17.0.2 and it gets warm/hot after taking a few pics. Also battery drops like 2% everytime I take a few pics.
Heading to London next week and will take some more photos
Really? Do you think a brand new phone shutting down after 10 minutes in moderately warm temperatures is normal behavior? Hi certainly don’t want attention. What I need is a fix so I can actually use my phone outside, particularly because I am in a wheelchair.Every year at release it's the same nonsense and everyone wanting attention.
17.1. and deleting instagram have solved my problems. Phone heats up only moderately even after shooting long videos. No, I am not an iOS developer…I wouldn’t be posting on this forum…yes, modern devices do finish indexing quickly…I was just stating a simple comment reacting to some talking about a device that just came out days before…clearly if you pay attention to news, Apple addressed this issue with the 15 Pro iPhones overheating. Some apps are overloading the A17 Pro and will be fixed via a software update this coming week I’d assume. But nice assumption regarding TSMC etc. quick trippin…David, are you an iOS developer? Do you realize that “indexing” takes about 20 minutes on modern devices thanks to flash memory and speeds? There is clearly some design difference and much more heat is expelled through rim and edge of the phone. A17 also just runs hot. I suspect Tcms wasn’t as honest with Tim as they should have been... But why did why did apple not account for this and design around it…
Instagram was never a problem for me. I think there was an update 2 days ago. Used it yesterday for 45 min straight and no problems.17.1. and deleting instagram have solved my problems. Phone heats up only moderately even after shooting long videos. Have a safe trip to London
You want attention. Ive had issue with tech in the past and I turned to warranty and support.Really? 1. iphone 15 pro max black 512gb with 17.0.2I guess for data points would be interesting to know:
1- phone model and iOS version specifically
2- if you use instagram and/or uber (since these seem to be the affected apps)
3- background refresh on instagram and/or uber (else N/A)

iPhone 15 OverheatGate Seems to Be a Nothingburger
Blaming it on the new titanium frame was just wild speculation on Kuo’s part, and by all evidence is *completely wrong*.daringfireball.net
John Goober has coined the term 'overheat gate', but I say drop the 'over' its cleaner.

But when i take 2 pics my phone gets really warm (not hot) and I loose 2-3% battery. That's the only time my 15 P get's hot.
Nope, try again. I am simply providing a data point and checking a very active thread to see: 1) if there is something specifically contributing to the problem; and 2) seeing if there are any simple fixes. I will certainly turn to support if there are continued problems that are not solved via software updates. You want attention. Ive had issue with tech in the past and I turned to warranty and support.
Isnt it the sync with the icloud data(if you have a lot) which is what will take ”a couple of days” no matter how fast the processor is you will always be brought down to lowest common denominator, whether its your wifi or apple’s servers on a busy launch weekend. But I would guess launch weekends are not what they once were. Every year at release it's the same nonsense and everyone wanting attention.
Do you use your phone for telephone calls? Lot of people say the phone gets very warm on calls and even taking pictures. What‘s that got to do with Uber or Instagram?hopefully the 17.1 update fixes the people that get hot and just make everyone else's battery a little bit better. thankfully i'm good on my 15 Pro, but I don't use instagram. Mostly Outlook, Teams and Chrome for 3rd party apps and messages and camera for built in stuff.

Yes, this was totally a made up “gate” for sake of attention: https://www.macworld.com/article/20...tra&huid=91d91198-a44f-448d-8297-4e82239c2250Every year at release it's the same nonsense and everyone wanting attention.
It's a way to shut people up.
