Press on your Lock Screen, then press Customization, then select the Time on your iPhone and select a font, it's quite easy once you do it a few times! The fonts are atrociously bad, except for the original that is available.
Thanks, but I only see an option to change the wallpaper, and they all look terrible. Is that it or can I select clock fonts? Sorry if I am being dim.

I don't like the ability to see the wifi password - now when I provide people access to the wireless network at work, they can check to see the password and then share it with other employees etc. Gonna have to re-think my approach now.....
Many routers have the ability to define a separate guest wifi network. If people only need internet access and not actual access to your internal network, that’s the way to go.

They've always been able to do that. It's just slightly easier now.

I have just updated iOS and another feature I did not know about is a hideous, thick font for the clock which seems incongruous with everything else. I don't know why, but it is already really getting to me! Does anyone know how/if it can be changed? Thank you.

Just touch the "time on your iphone" and a menu will appear with all the clock fonts, then select one. I agree, some of those wallpapers are for little children, quite bad.

Some nice features for sure. Still holding for hope that smart playlists come to ios for AM at some point.

Such an underrated feature.

Thanks - it seems you have to add new wallpaper and then you can edit the clock font (limited options indeed)! I was trying to edit my current homescreen/wallpaper or whatever I should be calling it. Thanks for the help 👍

I’m confused, my calls have never ended when I press the side button. Even FaceTime calls just turn the screen off.

Back on the first iPhones, I do remember accidentally ending calls with the side button. Not any specific one but like burning one's hand as a child, it was enough to make me forever terrified of the lock button during a call.

On recent phones I've tested it with less important calls, and I think it only happens when you're actually at the active call screen. If you minimize the call and lock at the home screen it won't drop it.

But, I have NEVER wanted to end a call this way so to finally end my trepidation I immediately turned this on. Truly a hidden gem, and literally the only item on the list I in fact did not know about.

How often are you taking screenshots while driving and don't want CarPlay included? I wouldn't complain if a switch was added, I'm not against customization - this just seems like a non-issue.
One doesn’t have to be driving to be connected to CarPlay.

For example, I often sit in my car at the beach, listening to music and reading while my dog barks at the birds. I also go to the drive-in very often, where I’m sitting in a parked car with the engine off, CarPlay active, for two hours.

Also, passengers exist.

Automatic CarPlay screenshots are really annoying.

Contacts finally have groups that you can edit! You can now add a contact to a group just like on macOS! Finally. Only taken 16 or so years. Just need Smart Albums in Photos, Smart Folders in Mail etc would be good now

Playlist sorting is only an option for static, not Smart playlists.
I could be wrong but I think you can sort the playlist in itunes on a mac or PC for a smart playlist and then that change will reflect in ios.

My biggest annoyance is I've made branching playlist in itunes like 3+ star rated songs, then 3+star rated Rock music, hip hop etc then specific artist under the genres and unfortunately you can only play these at the artist level in ios.

It's bad enough we can't create smart playist in at least ipad os but even worse we can't use them the same way. :(

I like the Pause charging to prolong battery life. You can always change a new battery in two years or more but rather not.

Yes, you can try sorting in iTunes and the new sorting transfers to the device, but if you have Apple Music this is hit or miss. But if you don't use Apple Music and sync to iTunes, yes sorting in iTunes transfers to the device.

If you use Apple Music and make your own playlists (I do) I have found that if you make a Smart playlist in iTunes which is based on the content of other playlists, then the smart playlist won't show up on the device -- "Playlist Is ..." criteria breaks Apple Music syncing across devices.

So if you have a Smart playlist that depends on another, change the Smart playlist to have its own criteria such that it does not depend on another playlist.

Ya I get how to do it. Just sucks a little that I have to do it but somewhat of an easy enough fix. But you may have pushed me to actually change them all one day. ;).

You've always been able to get the password for WiFi networks you have on your iPhone if you have iCloud Keychain by looking at them on your Mac. Entering a password for someone while expecting it to remain unknown to them is bad opsec.

The right way to do this is to use a unique password that you don't use anywhere else, and if your friend starts abusing your network or gives out the password without your permission, change it and don't give it to them anymore.
You're right. The problem now, though, is the sheer volume of items that we have connecting to wifi now. That's why I started using my Guest network for all my iot devices, because there is no way in hell i'm going to reconfigure all those devices by changing the password. Unfortunately, it's almost as bad for the primary network, with tablets, phones, laptops, and some misc. things connected.

There's gotta be a better way! (And there is, Kevin!)

Prevent Accidental Call Hangups - Now that's a nice one!
I’ve NEVER wanted to use the lock button for hanging up a call - this one is a godsend for me! Used to nap on the phone with my girlfriend and I’d often accidentally hang up the phone either trying to turn the screen off, or just moving the phone!

Use Siri to Hang Up a Call - A new settings in iOS 16 lets users use Siri to hang up an active call. By heading into Settings > Accessibility > Siri and activating Call Hangup, users can now say "Hey Siri, hang up the call" to end an active call. Note that the other person/people on the call will hear your request to Siri before being hung up on.

Phone call from Susie…

“Hey Siri, answer call”

“Hey Susie, hang on a second, got my hands full”

Siri: “Ok, ending the call”

Battery Percentage indicator - only available on ”some iPhones”. Not avail on XR? Whhhyyyyyy when it’s available in Control Center?

Get Rid of Duplicate Photos - The iOS 16 Photos app can let you know if you have multiple identical photos, giving you the opportunity to delete the extras to save space. Duplicate photos are listed in a new "Duplicates" album that appears if you have duplicates to deal with.
This is great, but they need to extend this to family accounts sharing icloud space. My wife and I airdrop each other a ton of photos, so our icloud storage is full of duplicates. It would be cool if Apple was somehow able to match them by hash, delete the dupe to save space, but have the photo still appear in both of our accounts.

That seems like a weird feature to add. I have signed friends into my wifi network for them because I didn't want to share the password (and I use my guest network for IoT stuff). So, now they technically could go in and reveal the password if they wanted to know it. Not a big deal, but I'm not sure why making it possible to reveal passwords already typed in is every really a good idea from a security standpoint.

I don't like the ability to see the wifi password - now when I provide people access to the wireless network at work, they can check to see the password and then share it with other employees etc. Gonna have to re-think my approach now.....

This is a scenario where a guest network would make more sense. I get where you’re coming from, but you’re describing a very amateur and insecure way of sharing a password vs. a secure method of authenticating and viewing a password.

I'm trying to set up Spacial Audio and it seems to get stuck where it is measuring my ears. I have a fuzzy bears and it can't seem to find the borders of my face. I'll keep trying. Has anyone else seen this?

It's a pain but you may have to add MAC address filtering.
