My flip mino HD holds 60 minutes of video in 4gb of flash memory. I'm not a techie, so tell me... wouldn't the 3g S do about the same? And while I'm on that subject, how do we expect iphone "high quality" video to compare with, say, flip minoHD quality? Not sure what the mega-pixels are for either. Educate me!

I currently have an 8gb Edge iphone, and I don't carry all my music with me, so 16 seems like enough.

I am on the phone with Apple, on hold, to switch from the 16 to the 32. I figure I am keeping this for 2 years, why the F not.

I was just on the phone with Apple. (I ordered the 16GB 3G S online) I wanted to switch my order from the 16GB to the 32GB and the guy said I would need to cancel my order entirely then wait 7 days until I can order again. You have to wait for it to process. Which means by the time I place the order again in a week I won't be receiving it on the 19th. I may just cancel entirely and just pick up in store. But then there's no guarantee the store will have any in stock on the 19th.

Yeah they told me that too, but I was able to cancel, and re-order with no problem. In fact I was able to place the new order while the other was still open. In fact I did this all while I was on the phone with them this morning.

I actually just got an email saying they are processing my new order, so the safe thing to do would be place the new order, then cancel the old.

The reason they tell you to wait a week is because when you put your order in, they take that money out of your account (at least as a pending transaction). I ordered a 16, then cancelled and ordered a 32 the next day, now in my bank account I'm out close to a thousand dollars in pending transactions from Apple because they now have two pending transactions for two iPhones and I'm paying a $200 surcharge on both because I'm paying the rates for an "upgrade" rather than fully subsidized. They will put back the money from the first order in a few days I'm sure, but for people who don't have buffer money in their account to handle this they say to wait a week just to make sure everything works out.

since Im due for an upgrade, I think I may go for the 32gb. I figure I'll have this phone for 2 yrs so I might as well go big. My DH said to get the 16 gb, but its only $100 difference so Im still thinking of the 32

There is no way Id pay 499 for the 32 though, that's more than Im willing to spend on a phone right now

I'm wondering, what's the point of bringin with you 32gb of music? I have an 8gb ipod nano and from 2000 songs on it i listen up to like 50-100 of them. All the other songs are forgotten, and when i get tired, i just connect my ipod to my mac and switch the old ones with the new songs and i'm done. So i'm going with a 16gb iphone because i'm enough with my 8gb ipod.

You tote your Mac around everywhere? A lot of people don't, which means that they have to refresh/change their music whenever they dock their phone with their Mac or PC. Some people don't want to do that frequently. Do whatever floats your boat.

I only have 6GB of music anyways (and no video whatsoever), so I've never maxed out my phone (when I used the 16GB). Those people who have more than 32GB of music will not be able to carry their whole collection on their phone.

BTW, I can't believe you woke up an 8-month-old thread...hahah

I honestly don't understand people like you. I have ~85GB of music, and while I don't listen to all of it, there's easily 50 GB that I would care to listen to at any given time. The innovation of MP3 players was that you didn't have to contnally change out what was on your device, you could carry all your music all the time, so if I'm rocking Jay-Z on the way to work, but prefer some Billy Joel and Nightmares on Wax while I'm in the office, I'm set. While I enjoy my 16GB iPhone, I'm still annoyed that I can't take all my music with me.

I walked into AT&T store the first day the 3Gs went on sale and asked for a 16 GB but the sales person said we just sold the last 16GB but we have several 32GBs in the back. So I said, well chet give me a 32. Just check my phone and I have 25.3 GB available. I figure when I sell it in December I'll recoup the extra hundred bucks.
