As I’ve said elsewhere, the issue isn’t a user like you. You upgrade every year. Your use case is irrelevant for this.
There is one usage pattern that impacts battery life. It needs two conditions to be really bad.
-A certain number of major iOS updates will degrade battery life even with 100% health, but…
-Battery health is irrelevant if the device isn’t updated, but poor battery health affects battery life if it is updated.
So, a usage pattern of a long-term device user is the following: I buy the device. I use it. I update it. If that’s the case, battery life matters. Have 100% health on the original iOS version and finish the day with 20%, and by iOS 28-29 and lower health you’re not making it through the day anymore.
