Promising. I plan to at least try the Air out. I dont think i ever thought the battery was going to be an issue after seeing the spec sheet as Apple is usually pretty good at meeting those specs in real world. Dont care about the single speaker at all. My only concern is the lack of Ultrawide as i use this on my 15 Pro Max often enough to be slightly concerned if it will be needed.

Review talks about the battery at 20% at the end of the day!

Time mark: 3:35

iPhone 17 Pro vs. iPhone Air review: What are you willing to give up?
wow, after watching this and some others, I may have underestimated how much more will be left at the end of the day for me...funny how days ago my gut said 20% for most and reviews coming in at about that too for heavier users.

I am really glad I made this choice...phone looks really good and will be more than enough for what I need and not have to carry a car battery pro model in the pocket every day.

I like the looks of the air the best. My hold up is one camera lens and only one speaker. I listen to podcasts- youtube videos often using the iphone speakers around the house so the louder the better. I've also used the wide lens often.

Glad to see real world battery reviews. And.. thats before the adaptive battery mode ramps up.

I've had every model of "Pro Max" that has been sold., time for a change. Battery isn't a concern, I have magsafe at home, work and wireless charging in the car. Battery has never really been a problem. Camera? We shall see, typically take pics of events and places. Generally share over SMS to quality isn't a concern all that much.

Ready for a phone I can comfortably carry in a front trouser pocket or a coat pocket.

100% how I feel about the Air after being so tired of the Pro line...

I was all set on the Air but have changed my mind after the first reviews in the last 24 hours; particularly Mrwhosetheboss. Battery would have worked for me plus the mono speaker; lack of ultrawide for me is compensated with the selfie new wide setting BUT portrait photos (which I use a lot) are not good given the absence of an extra lens; furthermore my fears regarding overheating and performance impact have been confirmed - sadly I will miss this iteration - this is made for a light user which is a real shame as I love the design and form (cloud white would have matched my Hermes AW silver perfectly!) (from min 5:00)

I just realized that the early battery reviews from UK based channels like The Tech Chap and mrwhosetheboss, are using the UK versions of the 17 which have an ESIM slot still. The Air is the only one that is ESIM free internationally. Apple says that the ESIM free versions of the 17/17 PRO will give about 2 more hours of battery life due to a larger capacity battery. So, the difference in battery life in this years' line up should be a bigger vs ESIM free 2025 models for those of us living in those regions. That being said, the comparison to last year's phones or even the previous year's is very useful and still promising. As long as it's the same or close to my 15 Pro Max I am replacing, it's a non issue.

I just posted on a different thread but was utterly shocked at the state of the Airs in the Apple store barely an hour after opening time - the back was full of scratches (black and blue were the worst but White the best at hiding them followed by gold) I had purchased an Air and a pro max to decide in store. I wasn’t happy with the pro max Aluminium but it was solid and no quality issues like the Air. Also the polished sides of the Air had micro scratches. Ended up with the Orange PM but preferred the silver one tbh.

Welp, so far eod battery better than guessed 32% … I think battery can be a mental thing for everybody at times when you’re used to having a battery that’s always rarely ever goes below 60,70% so you’re starting to see 41,39% and it’s just it’s a brain illusion once you’re reprogrammed to go oh today’s almost over that’s fine then it’s not a problem

I use my phone a lot on phone calls on speaker and I do have to say I wish it was about 15% louder max volume on speaker talking on the phone, but there’s so many pros especially in the pocket. I’ll live with the speaker.

To be fair I did use my phone today to do some software updates and app update updates and finish doing a few set ups so it might even be a little bit better now tomorrow.

That’s a good point. It’s not that bad at all. In fact, the first time I charged it to 100% and tried to measure the battery life, I was surprised. After 13 hours at work without using it, I came home with only 38% (from 6 am to 7 pm). I thought it was really bad and felt disappointed. However, on the second day, I took it off the charger at 6 am and used it a lot at work. I came home at 7 pm with 50%, which is pretty good. Now, at 9 pm, it’s 47%. I don’t know why, but I’m happy.

Our brain is being reprogrammed…so yea, 47% is ecstatic 😂

Although it may not be outstanding, contrary to rumours suggesting it would not last a full day, t47% battery after 15 hours of moderate use isnt bad. better than I had anticipated. 🤷‍♂️

Do you have the screen-on time?

You might care if it was 0% 3/4 through the day vs. 50% if you have a lot of screen time, play games, and do things that drain the battery fast like taking pictures and video.
