It is just not to my taste, not really desiring a bright orange phone tbh. I am the type of person that would prefer others not to know what phone I am using and I certainly don't need others to know I have the lastest phone. I am in my 40's btw.

Why do you like 'showing the latest phone' off?

I think you generally get to an age where it just doesn't matter any more. I'm there too!
It's no longer about showing things off and caring what others think - just about whether it does everything you need/want.
While I do like the orange, I didn't want something that would 'stick out' too much. I'd rather stay discreet - so stuck with the silver, as I always do. If it wasn't for my other half needing an upgrade I would have skipped this year too and stuck with my 15 pro max. As she's not into tech like me, she's happy with my phone and it's an excuse for me to upgrade ;)

Where did you find that? Used or new? I’m sick of all these issues on the 17 Pros, I might just want the 16 Pro at this point…
Since I'm not from the US, I don't think that's relevant. The store where I usually buy my tech has a lot of 16 Pro Max units in stock and they want to clear them out. They gave me a really good discount. That's why I didn't wait for the 17 Pro Max. Especially since it has iOS 18 installed. I read that there are a lot of issues with iOS 26. My conclusion is that if you have an iPhone 14 or older and you have the chance to get a new 16 Pro Max at a better price, don't hesitate to take advantage of it.

Yeah I am past the age of needing to show off with things like that. I use a 16 Pro Max and nobody has ever asked me what phone it is, nor do the people I associate with, care. Silver looked the nicer of the colours this year, thats the one my wife went for after replacing her 14 Pro.

Stores receive inventory daily. Depends on demand and this year 17PM is hot. Keep trying or order online to save time

I can’t even believe I’m saying this but I ordered a 1 TB Pro Max because they are constantly out of stock, especially in Silver.. I wonder if Apple did this on purpose to get people to buy whatever they could get even if it was the massive overpriced storage configuration

Likely just supply and demand.

I've seen the 256GB and 512GB restocked at nearby stores but they often sell out quickly. Chances are 1TB and 2TB just sell out more slowly due to price.

Yeah, they literally all restocked today in 256GB.. I still didn’t want to cancel my order though

Question, and this is not me being messy but I know it may be taken as such. What were some of you guys reasons for not preordering? Every year I wake up at 5am PST and order my phone in about 15 minutes and have it on launch day. Then I see countless post on here and other forums of people having to wait weeks and months for the phone. I always just wonder, like you know you’re gonna buy it, why not just preorder.

I preordered my Pro Max, got it on launch day, it was scratched out of the box. I tried to put up with it but I returned it

Preordered the iPhone Air... just didn't work out, so I returned it and went back to my iPhone 15 PM... Now, if the 17PM is available in my config. then I order one for pick up.

I’m so glad the Air never tempted me and I’m usually attracted to anything new and shiny. I remember buying the Last IPad mini having a perfectly fine IPad Pro saying to myself I bought it for on the go. I guess I forgot I had an IPhone.

They are definitely showing up in stock a lot more consistently now, albeit the 256GB configs still sell out very fast. It’s really a matter of checking every store around you on the Apple Store app around the clock, every day, over and over. It can be quite exhausting. I’ve seen pretty much every color and storage option come and go today, of course the higher storage ones like 1TB and especially 2TB are quite rare to restock. I really wonder who’s buying the 2TB one anyway.

I saw a lot of these stores actually keep a stock of each Pro Max they got in for up to a couple of hours today, so to me that’s a sign the initial release hype is dying down, whereas earlier they would be gone instantly before you could even pull out your card and confirm a pickup window.

I really enjoyed the form factor and lightweight but I couldn’t justify the price ($999 + $99(battery pack)=1,099), when I can get a more devices for almost the same
Amount. Just the trade of is the weight.

Same, I have iPad Pro and a Mini, and I rarely use it. More on the phone lol but I do use it when we’re traveling and needing to work (remotely).

I agreed, im on the app and website around the clock. Just like you say, there were plenty (in other configs) available, just not the one I wanted. But by the end of the day, what’s shown on the app, seems like they are sold out. Only a few in stock.

Out in the SF Bay Area, I havent seen 2tb available. Mostly 512gb and a few 256gb and 1tb.

I’m not sure who’s the target audience is for 2tb, but interested in learning who’s it for.
