I need to spend some time trying out BitWarden

A bit off topic, but now you have me thinking.. can any other password manager store wallet details and NFTs? I ask that because a Youtube channel I've been watching recently that livestreams safaris in S. Africa is starting to sell NFTs, and I was thinking about purchasing a couple. Does anyone they can be stored in any of the alternatives we have listed here?

Cryptocurrencies, digital wallets, and NFTs are in the same realm as PCI data, in the fact that I wouldn't want that stored in the cloud and beyond my control, especially if any of the SaaS providers holding it get breached.

That looks interesting, but the fact that it is free is worrisome - do they bombard you with ads? I would much rather pay a fair price than be stuck with ads.

Also, I'm not sure Buttercup is still active. The project has existed since at least 2017, but neither its blog nor its Twitter account have been updated recently.

Thanks again, I won't say that I hate 1PW, maybe their practice is a bit off-putting, but they are in the business to make money so they can honest do whatever they want, the market will eventually reflect when they are over the line too much. As for me personally, I just want to know 1PW is trust worthy, as well as if their online storage is secure (again, long time 1PW user, but have never used their online storage). I'm OKAY with their pricing, $60/year, it's honestly a small price to pay comparing to getting your account hacked or all the hassle that comes with not being able to share password with family member.

I do plan to give Enpass a good look as well though.

If you are looking just for security I can't help you there because as you know all companies and services get hacked somehow. People who store vaults locally theory goes like this:-

company servers (like 1PW) = Gets hacked all user data get leaked including yours

Local storage/cloud = hacker has to hack every single computer and cloud storage for every user to get all their data. So a million users a million hacks , meanwhile on the company servers (1pw) its just 1 server to hack.

This is not to mention that any mistake by any developer at 1PW could create a bug or weaken security and users will pay the price. From a security POV I do not specialise in this area some one who knows more maybe can tell us if 1PW method is really secure and we should not worry.

I have no idea i just setumbled on it and shared it with others

I see no problem here they are just adding Crypto as a new category you do not have to use it. You can store this info as a secure note either way. so its not something special.

your crypto address and phrases are just passwords really, just never share them with any one. Holder of the pass phrase is holder of the crypto in it.

I'm actively against companies supporting that space.

For me -- it's a deal breaker

If it is a new category (like Identity, Finance, Computer/networking/WiFi, Travel, etc.) that you could store in your local vault, would that be something you'd be for? Or is it just storing that data altogether?

I am not totally opposed to it, I do see some use cases for the blockchain and maybe even for cryptocurrency.

But, and this is a big bug. A few days ago I read an newspaper article about NFTs and a lot more in the past which confirm this: More than 50% of the NFTs are used for money laundry and fraud. I do not think, that this is something a company that' wants me to trust my passwords to their software should participate in. The same for Bitcoin, the energy consumption for mining Bitcoin I extreme, that is just not something which should be supported.

Regarding the software I think, that 1PW uses its focus which such a niche functionality. Currently I already could save passwords for wallets in 1PW, so they probably want to add more functionality beside that. And it certainly will be an excuse to charge more from their customers, for a functionality I do not want and that I will not use, like nearly everything added after 1PW version 6.

The bold is what I am thinking. That they are adding a distinct category for the passwords for wallets, and possibly the tokens for it. But if they were to hold/store/host the actual digital wallet on their servers, that would be a red flag for me.

Udpate on the $29 lifetime deal for EnPass: I was gonna buy another license for my wife but I tried creating a second vault synced to another Nextcloud account and it worked! So one license, many users. one time payment of $29 ?
Ohhh, how does this work? Can I use multiple master password for different user? Say one for myself and one for the wife?

Also, how easy it is to share password? Or do I have to share the entire vault?

Yes! I just created a separate vault with different name, password and sync destination. And used the same license email in the desktop and mobile apps. Works great!

Be careful with the StackSocial offers because weirdly there's 3 of them, see https://stacksocial.com/search?utf8=✓&query=enpass

You want to pick the $29 one which is life time unlimited/premium.

Awesome, thanks! I think I'll give it a go!

Forgot to mention that you can for example copy an item from a vault to another. I think that's how you share them.

Um...that seems kind of passive. I was thinking say, if I created a new bank account or a new streaming service. I can just say share and my wife will see it with out me doing anything extra (like send it to her and ask her to add to her 1Password like I do these days). The benefit is that if I ever update an password, I won't have to tell her, she can just see that a password does't work and grab the new password without asking me again.

Looks like you can share items https://www.enpass.io/support/kb/general/how-can-i-share-an-item/

I haven't tried this yet
