Many of you use 1Passwords for uses like credit cards, licenses, etc. If I just need it for passwords, is 1Password worth the money?

For me, it was definitely worth every penny for the passwords alone. As I've said, I use it for MUCH more than passwords and that's where the greater value is for me. I can't speak for you since I don't know your financial situation. If you are strapped for cash and only need passwords, then I think you know that Keychain is your best and cheapest option.

I suggest you try doing some research on the 1P developer's website: https://agilebits.com/ There is a very nice tour feature that shows you what it can do.

You've asked numerous questions and this thread has now gone over 50 responses. Try it for 30 days... for free. Then take a look at your bank account and decide whether it's worth it to YOU.

If you only use Apple devices (no Windows or Android), use only the Safari browser, and have no other applications that ask for a password, then NO, don't bother. Otherwise at least try it out for the one month trial.

someone said that last year they did so thats what im waiting on.....wouldnt hurt anyways to wait a few days i would think

Yeah I think I'm going to take the plunge, especially after the input from this thread. Are you thinking it will be a deal on the app itself or on the subscription service?

If you only need for online passwords, such as Web logins using Safari, no. For such use iCloud for you is plenty enough.

Yes I also use keychain and I think it's the best one with a lot of features available like iCloud Keychain sync.

Don't think I've seen a deal on either the app or subscription on 1Password.

Hope to see one!!

If you have it just for passwords you will likely begin using it for other secure data storage. I started just using it for passwords but started adding lots more to it.

One helpful hint I got from Agile Bits was to tag any item in my wallet with the keyword wallet. If I lose my wallet I can quickly bring up the credit card details to call them to cancel.

My wife and I sync our 1Password vaults via a shared Dropbox account. This allows us to get into the other person's accounts in an emergency.

I decided to do the 30-Day Trial ... Starting setting it up last night - Any tips as I do so?

Install the plugins for the browsers you use. It will audit the quality of your passwords (and repeated use of the same password) and has a random password generator so you can improve weak non-unique ones. Remember it does more than just passwords -- go into Identities and put in your personal information (address, phone number, birthdate, ...) and it will autofill those fields when filling out forms. Do the same for your credit cards. It's also a great place to save bank account numbers, software license keys, and any information you need to keep securely.

Sorry guys, I have tried it ant it just doesn't work for me. It added way too many steps to log into some websites, did not work properly on others, and was not worth the money for the limited positive aspects. I used the 30 day trial before getting the monthly subscription (no cost for the app). Perhaps I had the wrong settings, but it was a no-go for me.

The Mac App Store version allows syncing either using iCloud or Dropbox.

The version purchased directly from Agilebits also allows syncing via iCloud. It used to be the case that only the MAS edition did, but that has changed now. That is probably what you're thinking of.

Oh, nice to know that it has changed.

Just curious why you would not store those things in Keychain? I use a secure note in Keychain for software license info.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, I genuinely curious why you would pay for 1PW to do what Keychain already does free. :)
That secure note doesn't sync to iOS devices does it?

1password is by far one of the best apps I have ever used on the Mac. It is is the most flexible, can store nearly everything you want, can be stored in a number of different ways and is on nearly every platform. My only complaint are the Teams function is flakey at best. I tired it for a little bit but it didn't seem to sync properly. The Windows 10 App store app isn't very good but they have a different app that you can get that is much better.
