Ditto. Called AT&T about an hour ago and the rep very kindly issued me a $200 service credit, which translates into almost 3 months of service for free. So I am *very* happy with AT&T right now, especially since they had nothing to do with what happened yesterday.

But I am still super-pissed at Apple.

Same questions. Did you call the AT&T main customer service number or did you call your local AT&T store? When did you buy your iphone?

Did you get any kind of transaction ID or confirmation number? Something others could reference when talking to different customer service reps? I hate calling back over and over again playing customer rep roulette.

Although I didn't purchase an iPhone, I'll be Minnesota nice & I'm gonna call the Minnesota Apple Stores and tell you what they all said about price cuts for a phone bought on launch day. Updates within 20 mins.
UPDATE:
Bloomington(MOA): No.
Edina (Southdale): No.
Minnetonka (Ridgedale): No. (but the software updates will be available to people who bought iPhones before yesterday. DUH)
Roseville (Rosedale): No.

The guy in Roseville (the manager) said he had very strict orders from 'up above' to adhere to the 2-wk return policy with no exceptions.

I called 611. Bought my phone on 6/29 from the local Apple Store.

Not sure if it helps, but the rep noted that I have been with AT&T/Cingular since 2003. I did not ask for any specific credit amount, just for her to do anything if she could to make up for what Apple did. The rep was quite shocked to hear about it; I was apparently the first person to inform her of Apple's treachery.

Nope, sorry. I did log on to my account and I see now a negative balance of around $130.00, so I know she did what she said she would do.

Not me. Just got off the phone with AT&T. Reminded them of how long I've been a customer. Told them how disappointed I was that they were treating their customers this way; especially those who waited in line. I guess I'll be officially disputing the charge via my credit card now.

You're not going to win. You have absolutely no case. But good luck all the same.

At this point, I just want to make my point known to as many people as possible and as loudly as possible. Also, there are reports of several people getting the 200 bucks back via AMEX. My card has a similar program and I filed a complaint under it.

For those of you who got a $200 credit from AT&T: Did you just dial 611 on your phone or is there another number to call?? I talked to a very rude lady yesterday when I dialed 611.

Thanks!

I have talked to two ppl at the att 611 number and they have told me that on there screens in big red letters are "Do Not Credit the Difference to Their Bill". They are telling me I must go to the point of sale (the att store I bought it from).

It's such bs. Some people are getting it and I've been a customer longer than they claim and I had no luck. That's the most frustrating thing about this whole mess.

I called 611 and got a credit.

Called 611 for the third time. Very nice lady told me no credits and that regardless of what other people are getting she cannot give out service credits for hundreds of dollars. I hate the fact that this is all hit or miss. I give up.

Well, I went to the AT&T store last Saturday and bought the 4G model, as I could not justify the cost of the 8G. Marvelous device! I watched the keynote yesterday, and wondered what my options were. After seeing some postings elsewhere, I packed everything up this morning and trundled off to the AT&T store. I was greeted by two very friendly people, and told them the story. Within seconds she was ready to credit my card. I asked if I could upgrade to the 8G, and she said certainly! Well, I now have a brand new 8G model, and money back too! Life is good.

I bought a refurb 4G online on 8/20, delivered 8/27...called yesterday and the woman gave me a $100 refund, only after arguing with her for a bit after she offered to send me a new case since I was technically outside of the 10 days. Called again today after reading the posts. The guy told me the period for pricematch was 14 days, and refunded me the additional $50 with no problems.

Where did you go after 611? Which sub-menu?

Customer service (I think 0, then 5). I then asked for a manager - normal service reps cannot give credits. I would imagine the retention department would also be able to help you out.

I called 611. They seem have specific instructions to not give any compensation and tell customers to contact the local store. My local store said they had a long conference call on this today and said they were only offer credits for purchases within 14 days. They seemed willing to make up for it with discounts on phones and accessories, but I already got business discount on things, so... meh.

+1 SJ.

Therefore, we have decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from either Apple or AT&T, and who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store. Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple's website next week. Stay tuned.
I'm more than satisfied with that.

I'm so happy to hear this! I new Apple would come through, as they almost always do!

ok so did they keep records of those who already got credit? If not those who alreAdy got $200 will get anorher &100. Which is cool for them but ******** to me

I'm sure the refund is reflected in their accounts and that will make them ineligible for the $100. I'm assuming that's what Steve was referring to by "who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration."

yeah

I put it to them this way (but nicely)

They could either give me a $200 credit on my bill and I would buy a second iPhone for my 2nd line;
OR
I would cancel the 2 lines of service I had with them (no ETF on either of them due to a seperate issue).

So they stood to make about $2800 between the 2 lines over the next 2 years; or they would get nothing. They made the right move and ate the $200.

BULL

Well they scanned my iPhone box when i went to get my refund. She asked if i wanted to keep it, i said yes, and since I technically got it for the new price i was eligible for the 30 day trail to sit with an Apple Store genius and receive help/tips on any mac product.

Something i'll never use, nothing personal to you geniuses that lurk on the boards, been using macs since i was... 6 or 8.
