Yes I did ! But the Mac reboot without changing anything. I'm still on 10.10.2
Looks like PikeYosefix blocks the update
I seem to recall someone else having a similar issue - have you tried running the update again? I installed the update with Yosefix installed and everything went OK so it does work.

PikeYoseFix doesn't block the update. Try downloading the combo update from Apple's website.
Well ! I reinstalled the update with Yosefix reinstalled as well and suddenly everything went fine. I'm running 10.10.5
Thanks a lot guys, your help has been as usual fantastic. All of you !!!!!

Because I'm pushing my luck I ask an other question.
What SSD may I install in my MacPro 2.1
The
I did connect an external one. The system sees it, connect to it, makes copies, reads etc. I installed the Yosemite system but I can't reboot with it. With the alt key it doesn't see it.

I've been told that the PCI Express should be the best option but its quite expensive to get something around 500 Go

Once again, thanks in advance to all the very clever people here.

Glad you are up and running.
I have a Crucial MX200 in an ICY Dock in one of the HD bays and it seems fine - I think most SSDs will be OK but will need the adapter. You can also install in an optical drive bay via a cable to the SATA connector behind the fans but easier in the hd drive bay. I think the PCI route is too expensive and I didn't consider it economic.
The SSD is 250gb and runs the apps and OS - archive file storage is on other internal HDDs. I guess it may be possible to set-up as a fusion drive but have no experience of this.

First time post here.

I'm having some issues getting the installer to work on my mac 1,1.

I'm currently running 10.7.5 and am up to date.

When trying to use the partition drive method of updating to 10.10, I get to a gray screen after the install progress bar finishes(apple start screen). Gray screen and then the computer goes into hibernation after about 5 minutes.

I can get a little farther along if I reset the PRam(command+option+p+r). I get to the language selection screen and select english then begin to wait forever. Nothing happens.

The selection arrow does change colors, when selected, indicating that the command was processed, but I only see the language selection page thereafter.

I'm usually pretty astute at finding and solving computing issues myself, but this one has taken alot of my time, with no successful outcome.

I've also unplugged the mac, to see if that helps the process along...nothing.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi,
I want to (at last) set up my MacPro 1,1 with Yosemite.
I was looking for the lastest boot.efi file. It seems the latest I can find on the forum is https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/2006-2007-mac-pro-1-1-2-1-and-os-x-yosemite.1740775/page-65#post-20283936 (dated 2007)

but on the git page of the projet, it seems the lastest commit is dated 2015, Feb 6....
(f738eb406b)

What is the latest boot.efi that works?

thanks....
I think the 2007 date is when the person posting joined the forum - not the date of the files.

Has anybody figured out if they're able to successfully run 10.11 El Captain yet? Are we able to just update just like any other or do you have to go through the same process as before with Yosemite?

Hello all.
I would like to upgrade from 10.9.5 to 10.10.?
can anyone tell me if the pikeyose fix that prevents the overwriting of the boot.efi can be installed on my system while running mavericks?

I am running OSX 10.9.5 on
Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro1,1
Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
Memory: 16 GB
Boot ROM Version: MP11.005C.B08
SMC Version (system): 1.7f10
AND
ATI Radeon HD 5770:

Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 5770
VRAM (Total): 1024 MB

Am using tiamos bootloader (thanks you tiamo!)and have been stable for months.

What would be the most prudent way to upgrade to the latest version of OSX?

The 5770 is fine. Do you have the Tiamo boot.efi fix daemon installed? You will need to remove that first of you do.

fix daemon? does not sound familiar. I installed the hack a year ago so im not sure. I did it manually by using a newer laptop and modifying the installation in target disk mode. Is there a simple way to check?

Go to the folder /usr/standalone/i386 and see if there is a file called tiamo.boot.efi or something very similar to that. And check the folder /Library/LaunchDaemons and see if there is anything there with tiamo in the file name.
